The Team Indiana flag football team from Madison County met Tim Shriver, chairman of the board of Special Olympics International and son of Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver, today while competing at the flag football venue during Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota. Eunice was a sibling of 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Tim spoke at opening ceremonies Saturday. Great opportunity for the flag football team!

To top it off, the team won both of its games today. Way to go! We are proud of you!

Can't make it to Minnesota for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games? You can catch some of the action from your couch. ABC and ESPN will air the Opening Ceremony and selections from four sports - track and field, swimming, powerlifting and flag football.

Special Olympics Indiana will host the 2026 Summer Games in Terre Haute, welcoming over 5,000 athletes, coaches, volunteers, and fans to compete in seven sports: track and field, bocce, bowling, cycling, powerlifting, swimming, and volleyball.
