April 28 is National Superhero Day, and at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital they choose to celebrate our True Heroes.

Every day, children facing life-threatening illnesses show extraordinary courage, strength, and resilience. Their determination inspires everyone around them and reminds us what real heroism looks like. Their bravery is a powerful reminder of why compassionate, specialized care for children matters so much.

For the past 18 years, the Celebration of Caring Gala has also honored these remarkable patients. Each year, a “True Hero” has bravely shared their story, reminding us why compassionate, specialized care for children matters so much and how the support of our community helps make that care possible. Our associates are taking a stand to make a meaningful difference in the patient experience. Through the Associates All-IN Campaign, associates raised $413,247 in 2025 to support programs that directly impact the care, comfort, and well-being of our patients and their families. The initiative is focused on Health Access, ensuring that patients can receive the care they need, when and where they need it most.

This campaign is a powerful example of how our associates go beyond their daily roles to create a positive impact. Every contribution helps enhance patient services, support families, and strengthen the care teams that make exceptional care possible.

Co-chairs Josh and Shelley share why they chose to lead the Associates All-IN campaign at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson.

Josh says, “"Being a part of this hospital is more than just a job; it’s being part of a family. I’m honored to co-chair this campaign because it’s about us taking ownership of our future. A breast cancer diagnosis marks the beginning of a deeply personal and often overwhelming journey. This year, thanks to generous support from the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust (IBCAT), Breastie Boxes provide comfort, encouragement, and care to patients at the very start of treatment.

Designed to bring comfort, hope, confidence, and even moments of joy, each Breastie Box is thoughtfully curated with meaningful items for patients navigating a new diagnosis. The beautiful pink packages are filled with comfort items, safe personal care products, and small but powerful reminders that no one faces cancer alone.

Ascension St. Vincent Anderson received 110 Breastie Boxes, ensuring that patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer are supported from day one. These boxes offer more than practical resources; they deliver reassurance, compassion, and a tangible expression of community support during a vulnerable time.

Through philanthropy, the Foundation continues to enhance the patient experience by meeting emotional as well as physical needs. Each Breastie Box represents the generosity of donors and a shared commitment to walking alongside patients with care, dignity, and hope.
