It was an honor to be in the Rockridge Homecoming Parade with one of the original volunteers- Dorothy Begyn! Dorothy was instrumental in getting a volunteer ambulance service in Andalusia in 1975! She is 94 and wore her original ambulance uniform. Dorothy was driven by her granddaughter, who is currently a volunteer with the ambulance service, Alicia Stark.

🚑 Ambulance Tip of the Day: Help Us Help You! 🚑

When an ambulance is on the road with lights and sirens, every second counts. ⏱️

Here’s how you can help emergency crews:

🚗 Pull over safely when you see or hear an approaching ambulance.
👀 Stay alert and check your mirrors often.
🛑 Do not follow closely behind an ambulance — give responders room to work.
🚸 Be extra cautious in intersections and never try to beat an emergency vehicle through a light.

A few extra seconds of patience can help us reach someone who needs us.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe!

💧🌞 Stay Hydrated, Stay Healthy! 🌞💧

Whether you're heading back to school, working outdoors, or enjoying the last days of summer, staying hydrated is one of the easiest ways to protect your health.

Here are a few simple tips:
💦 Drink water regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty.
🍉 Eat water-rich foods like watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges.
☀️ Limit sugary and caffeinated drinks when spending time in the heat.
🚰 Carry a reusable water bottle wherever you go.
⚠️ Watch for signs of dehydration, including dizziness, headache, dry mouth, fatigue, and dark-colored urine.

Small steps can make a big difference. Make hydration a daily habit and help keep yourself and your family healthy.

From your friends at Andalusia Volunteer Ambulance, stay safe, stay hydrated, and enjoy the rest of your summer!
