We LOVE it when young people call and want to volunteer at Daniel’s Helping Hands! Andalusia High School seniors, Graycie Sansom and Lily Jo Elmore, worked so hard. You never think you are getting older and slower until you watch the young ones work circles around you! Together, we a lot. Thank you so much, Graycie and Lily Jo!

We are looking for large storage bins! We will gladly accept anything that resembles this picture. It doesn't matter what color, or what condition. It doesn't even need a lid! We are setting up for sorting clothes this upcoming weekend. We can return them if anyone has any they'd just like to "loan" us for the weekend. (We do need them to be wiped out/fresh from dust or dirt.)😀 Please let us know if you have any just lying around that you'd like to part with or share! Thank you!

"Just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside." "Pretty is, as pretty does." How often do we hear these phrases in life? This precious girl, Olivia Cravey, created her very own event to help serve our children that enter foster care. When Olivia first asked what our greatest needs were, we immediately thought of pajamas. Think about the one moment, at the end of every day, you slip into your favorite pajamas before going to bed. Are we not a little more relaxed and settled in for the evening when we get those comfortable, warm, and cozy pajamas on? That's exactly what we want our children to feel when they are spending the night in an unfamiliar home, with unfamiliar people.

Olivia Cravey is a senior at Andalusia High School. She expressed a desire to help our children and said she could totally see herself fostering one day as an adult. Her heart was pierced after playing with two little ones in care just one time! She thought of herself and all the many blessings she had in her own life, and wanted to do more for others. She had the resources within her school and knew other friends would rise to the challenge. She created a flyer, and the next we knew, she was bringing us THREE, HUGE containers of new and fresh pajamas.

How humbling to see a young lady her age take on a task like this! What a blessing you are Olivia, to our children and our community! Thank you!

We would like to give a heartfelt Thank You to R & R The Children's Store for making such a generous donation to the Foster Closet of Covington County! These sweet things are sure to provide warmth and create special moments for the little ones in our care! Thank you R & R for thinking of our children!

Today has been a blessed day at Daniel’s Helping Hands! We certainly had lots of hands helping us sort, hang, and organize donations. Mrs. Christy Cobb, a second grade teacher at Straughn Elementary School, her sweet daughter, Annslee, and Elise Worley, a freshman at Straughn High School, helped us tremendously! We had so much fun!

Thank You, Christy, Annslee, and Elise! It was such a joy spending the day with you all! ❤️

We also had a surprise drop in from Emily Bush. She chose the foster closet as her school community service project this year. This project involved reaching out to the community to educate, bring awareness, and support her choice in community service! Boy, did she do one AMAZING job! No doubt she received and A++ for her project. She, along with her brother, Gavin Bush, brought in so many donations that we could hardly house them all. It was truly humbling to see the work this young lady did.

If anyone has any hangers similar to these that are clear or white, we would love to take them off your hands. Most of these are hangers that come with clothes from Walmart or any other clothing store! Please think about us before throwing them away. We will put them to good use!

Tomorrow is FRIDAY. Tomorrow is a day that many have prayed for. Tomorrow is the official ADOPTION DAY for Zack and Whitney Turvin, one of our precious foster families! They have chosen to celebrate at Tiger Nutrition by offering $2.00 off any ONE tea! All you need to do is bring in a much needed donation item, or items for Covington County's Foster Closet, "Daniel's Helping Hands!" We are working hard to build our "TEEN" section in the closet. For every "DONATE" TEA purchased Friday, May 10th, 20% of the cost will be donated to the foster closet!

YOU can make a difference! Donate, purchase a tea, and be a part of something special!

What a DAY!!!!! We loved seeing your beautiful faces and getting to visit for a minute with you! Words seem inadequate at times when you really try to find the right way to say, "thank you." THANK YOU, to all of you that took time out of your Saturday to come see "Daniel's Helping Hands." We are grateful for so many donations.

When you get to stand on the frontlines and see people around you working for the greater good, it brings feelings of HOPE. Sometimes the meaning of that term gets lost in the business of our own lives. We forget that people need hope. Children need it most, especially those in the midst of hardships and tragedy.

Thank you to the people of Covington County that choose to bring hope to all children in foster care and the families that open their homes to them. 🥰

City Hope is a Foster Closet in Dothan, Alabama. They serve a larger population than Covington County, and are doing amazing things! Connect with them and watch the work they do in their community.

This evening, we welcomed the FPA Board of Directors, FPA members, foster parents of Covington County, our local DHR staff, and most importantly, children who are currently in care. Everyone had a great time sharing a pizza dinner and shopping. The absolute BEST part of the evening was helping a young lady select clothes and shoes that she would love wearing to school. That smile…….WORTH every hour of work that has been put into Daniel’s Helping Hands. That smile was because of all of you!
