Just think roasting a marshmellow, singing Christmas Carols, on a hayride, hiking 12 miles, tandem bike ride around the Blue Lake, paddle a canoe while fishing, swimming in pool or fresh water lake, playing dominoes, inventing new words on a great game of Scrabble, learn new independent living skills, new tricks in Technology, rekindle your romance, eat popcorn while enjoying a descriptive movie, have private and group counseling, orientation & mobility training, hit a home run in beeper baseball, cook, tell tall tales, Blind Veterans benefits, employment opportunities, formal or casual dining, Thanksgiving feast, BBQ follow up with hay ride to campfire and Country Westernnight, Country breakfast,, Country Western Dancing, Boogie Time , laugh so much it hurts to smile, doggie paddle, doggie travel, excursion trip to the City of Andalusia learn to shop, self advocacy, spa time, get a facial, practice your golf swing share your best book finds, crafts, learn to play a musical instrument, how to become a beekeeper, honey do projects around the house, and these are just a few of the activities to select your all inclusive learning retreat spongsored by the Covington VIP Lions Club held at Blue Lake Camps 11 miles south of Andalusia, Alabama.
Extreme Experience Retreat ( E E R) $200 per person based on double occupancy. This includes everything! No hidden charges or fees. $25 for registration and remaining fee due by August 15th. ,

August 25, 6pm, dining in the dark will be at David's Catfish House. Tickets to the fundraiser, sponsored by Covington VIP Lion's Club, are $20. Come join us for a great meal and a chance to support our fifth Extreme Experience Retreat!

Save the date! August 25th will be our first "Dining in the Dark" fund-raiser for our Extreme Experience Retreat. EER is our annual learning, training, recreation and renewal retreat held at Blue Lake each fall for visually-impaired adults. Our goal is to encourage, challenge and empower those with vision loss to lead fully functional, successful lives out in their communities. EER is one way to provide them with the necessary skills to do so. Extreme Experience is held September 28-October 1, 2014. at a cost of $200./participant. Since many who attend our program are on limited incomes, scholarships go a long way to defray expenses. This is one way your help becomes invaluable! By supporting our "Dining in the Dark" with your ticket purchase, you are helping to provide a scholarship for someone to attend our program. More info. re: ticket sales and pricing to follow!

September 28-October 1 is this year's Extreme Experience Retreat at Blue Lake Camp. Join us once again, any visually impaired adult, for a time of education, challenge, growth, recreation and renewal. Cost for this event is $200. And covers meals and lodging. Join us on Thursday, May 15, 1 pm at the Andalusia public library in the Dixon room for our meeting. Our guests will be Sammy Glover and Kevin Kennedy. We will find out about current voting issues and have an opportunity to learn about the accessible voting machine.

Seeing Eye Nuri and handler Dirk Price were the featured guests at last Wednesday's Andalusia Lion's club meeting. Dirk spoke about the formation of the new cyber-Lion's club, as well as providing information regarding the 2014 Extreme Experience Retreat.
