Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves global communities before, during, and after disasters, is setting up a warehouse in Anchorage as a base for their efforts to help those affected by the storms in western Alaska. If you are able to donate any of the items on the following list of needed supplies, please call the APOA office @ 907-277-0515 for delivery instructions.

Last week APOA Anchorage chapter board member/APD officer John Butler and former APD officer Doug Fifer rode in the annual Police Unity Tour, which ended at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. State Vice President Shannon Watson and Anchorage chapter Vice President Ron Vigil were there to greet him! This multi-day ride is a fundraising and awareness-raising effort for the memorial, which honors law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

The University of Alaska Anchorage Police Department is hosting the Stalking Prevention, Awareness & Resources Center (SPARC) on January 30th @ 1 - 5pm and then again on January 31st from 8am - 12pm. The purpose of this training is to assist law enforcement (patrol officers) in responding to stalking calls, investigations, and report writing. Sunrise bagel and espresso is doing PAWS a super solid! They have selected PAWS Search and Rescue Dogs for their January Sunrise Cares program. Donations made to PAWS will be used to purchase equipment that allows us to better map and track our search efforts. Please consider dropping by Sunrise for a latte on January 23 (and any other day!) to help PAWS while enjoying a great beverage!

First Responders are our friends, neighbors and outstanding members of the community.
On January 16 2025, we’ll say THANK YOU with free lift tickets for EMS, Firefighters, Police Officers, Dispatchers, Doctors, Nurses, and Hospital Workers. We cannot thank you enough for the work you all do!

To qualify for a free lift ticket on January 16, first responders and support workers need to present an employee ID or state-issued ID credential to the Tram Ticket Office or Daylodge Ticket Office.
