Some of our combat wounded members attended the governor’s annual prayer breakfast today and received an inspirational message from Phan Thi Kim P**c or “Napalm Girl” as she was called in a Pulitzer Prize winning photo titled "The Terror of War." The war defining photo was taken at Trảng Bàng during the Vietnam War on June 8, 1972. She and ger family we’re victims of an accidental na**lm attack by the her own South Vietnamese forces. She was only 9 years old, severely burned, and running naked from her enflamed village. Today, her message was about how finding faith, forgiveness, acceptance, and optimism changed her reality from bitter victim to international philanthropist and enriched her life. What a great message. By practicing those principals, she says, we can all experience a richer life no matter our circumstances. Talk about resilience! She’s amazing. Merry Christmas! What a great party this year, good people, and fat ribeye steaks for all! Commander, Dan Collins was honored to give special recognition to Jeanne Ostnes and Tim Benintendi for all their support shown to us over the years! Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen. Thanks, VFW Post 9785 for hosting on short notice! Special thanks to Mike Robbins, Jason and Carmela Warfield, and others for helping underwrite our Christmas programs this year and Marta, Joshua Revak and Chris Anderson for setting it all up.

Merry Christmas from the combat wounded veterans of MOPH, Anchorage! Today, our commander, Dan Collins, Senator Joshua Revak, and the Revak family distributed 60 movie tickets to single service members at the USO on JBER. thanks to all the folks who work hard at USO and ASYMCA to help our service members feel at home here in Alaska!

May we never forget those who served on D Day! We are blessed to have served served in the Anchorage MOPH with Jim McMahon (May he really in peace) and others who fought their way through the beaches of Normandy so many years ago.

. Our Anchorage Purple Heart members were honored by the Anchorage Assembly this week. A resolution passed which proclaimed Anchorage a Purple Heart City, stated that every November would be recognized as a Purple Heart Month, and that the city, through Easy Park, would provide free parking for Purple Heart recipients in designated parking garages.

Thanks to Past National Commander, Ron Seibles, Andrew Halcro, Melinda Grant, and everyone else who helped get this done. And special thanks to the Anchorage Assembly for their devoted efforts, especially Austin Quinn-Davidson and Forrest Dunbar.

Happy Independence Day from our families to yours! Anchorage MOPH Commander, Dan Collins, Alan Klatt, Gordon Severson and Josh Revak represented us in the 4th parade. Thanks to the Alaska Territorial Cavalry for giving us a ride. Our convoy won the Admiral’s Choice trophy in the Anchorage parade! 🏆

Our route clearance convoy will consist of ancient military vehicles provided by the Alaska Territorial Cavalry!
