Now THAT was a delicious way to give back! 💚

We were thrilled to be part of this year’s 10 Chefs for Causes bringing together ten incredible Anchorage chefs and ten local nonprofits for an unforgettable evening supporting our community.

A BIG thank you to Chef Brett Knipmeyer of Kinley's Restaurant and Bar for choosing Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska as his cause again this year! We’re so grateful for his generosity and for helping shine a spotlight on the power of mentorship.

We also want to give a special shoutout to our own Claudia Lara, Director of Community Giving, for all her hard work behind the scenes to make this partnership possible!

Together, the event raised more than $422,000for local nonprofits! 🎉 What an incredible example of what our community can accomplish when we come together.

Thank you to the organizers, participating chefs, sponsors, and everyone who helped make this event such a BIG success. We’re grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another!

Working "9 to 5" is great, but spending quality time together as a match is even better!

Our Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska match had an incredible time celebrating at the Dolly Parton Tribute Parade and Dance Party in Juneau.

Through the Imagination Library, Dolly has gifted over 200 million free books to children around the world, turning bedtime stories into a movement and inspiring generations of young readers.

We're excited to share that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska has been awarded a $2,000 grant from the Arby's Foundation!
This investment will support our Big Futures initiative, helping young people build workforce readiness skills, explore career pathways, and connect with caring mentors who expand their networks and opportunities.

An estimated half of all jobs come through social connections. Through mentoring, we're helping Alaska's youth build the relationships and confidence they need to thrive.

Join Associated Builders and Contractors - Alaska and Kayden Strong for a free, family-friendly Trunk or Treat filled with costumes, candy, and plenty of Halloween fun!

Members of the BBBS Alaska team recently traveled to Phoenix for the BBBS Regional Conference, connecting with colleagues from across the Big Brothers Big Sisters network! 💚

The conference kicked off with an incredible performance from **Cooper, a Navajo first-generation hoop dancer**, and matches from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona even had the opportunity to learn some hoop dancing themselves.

It was a great few days of learning, sharing ideas, and connecting with others doing this work across the country. Our team came home inspired and excited to bring new ideas back to Alaska!

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska, we believe every young person deserves to have someone in their corner—someone who listens, shows up, and reminds them that they matter.
This month, we encourage everyone to check in on the people around you, make space for honest conversations, and remember that asking for help is a sign of strength.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters Alaska, we know young people thrive when they have caring, consistent adults in their lives. That's especially important for youth experiencing foster care.

Through our Sync program, we work closely with Alaska's foster care community to connect young people with mentors who can provide another stable, supportive relationship in their lives.

But mentors are only one part of the network of support Alaska's children need. There is also a critical need for foster families across our state.

If you've ever considered opening your home to a child or young person, we encourage you to learn more about foster care in Alaska.
