Heads up! ☀️ AKRID is partnering with the ADC to host a series of three summer hikes under the Alaska State School for the Deaf’s “Summer Adventures”. This is a great opportunity to get together with your local Deaf and Interpreting communities while being outside and enjoying this incredible Alaskan summer!

We are excited to have hikes in the Valley, Eagle River, and Anchorage. More information will be posted about each hike as the date for that event approaches.

‼️UPCOMING WORKSHOP‼️

In honor of the approaching Interpreter Appreciation Day, AKRID wants to thank you with a self-care workshop!
Dr. Brittany Blake, DC, from Optimum Performance Chiropractic, will lead us through a series of exercises and stretches geared towards reducing strain & pain, improving mobility & strength, and mitigating the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Wednesday, May 6th, 6:30 - 7:30pm AKDT via Zoom

This workshop will be focused on self care, as we learn various stretches and exercises geared towards relieving strain and reducing pain caused by repetitive signing movements.

Yesterday’s Passport to the Deaf World event was a blast!

It was great to see ASL students, Deaf community members, families, interpreters, and most importantly our Deaf leaders all laughing and learning together. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night incredible.

We look forward to seeing you again during DAW week this fall!
