YEP crushes it yet again. 🪨💪🪨

Despite the rain, wind, HILLS Project Romig Hill is complete.

Crews improved existing trails all throughout the area by adding gravel and wood chips, even down the 2 massive hills in the area. This project showed true grit and ingenuity from our YEPpers and we couldn’t be more proud of how it all came together in the end.

Go check out the newly improved trails across from West High School… and imagine hauling gravel up and down those hills.

The final Crew Member of the Week… Pheng!!!! 😎♟️🪏

Pheng works really hard, he frequently can be seen hustling running buckets instead of walking them. He’s really funny and is the glue that makes his crew feel cohesive. He’s an excellent chess player and loves a good ‘dad selfie’.

We knew he’d add a ton to this years crew and are so happy he’s a part of YEP 2026. A perfect last Crew Member of the Week for the season.

Cheers to this rad guy!

Another project finished! 🌱🦆🎣🪨

This 2-week long project gave Cheney Lake Park some much needed love and attention.

Many things happened during this project. First, YEP added gravel and culverts to improve tread and drainage on a 1/2 mile section of muddy trail. We then participated in a Streambank Rehabilitation class, hosted by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, before hitting the park again for our own bank rehab portion of the project. We planted hundreds of native water loving plants to help protect the shoreline and provide habitat for wildlife.

We are so proud of how this one turned out and hope the community of this well loved park feels the same!

Cheers to Cheney!

Our first ever... Crew Members of the Week, Anika & Sage!!!! 🙌💪🕶️

We simply couldn't decide on just one and what a perfect 1st duo to be named Crew MemberS of the Week.

These two have shown nothing but grit, motivation, joy, and extreme passion for getting the hard work done. They lead by example with their positive attitudes and unwavering endurance.

You two are THE BEST!! We are lucky to have you with us at YEP!!

Let’s meet our SENIOR CREW MEMBERS! 💪

Pia!
Born and raised in Anchorage, Pia grew up loving being active and being outdoors. Her favorite part about YEP is bonding with her coworkers, and when she’s not at work, she’s probably at the pool.

Sherman!
Sherman is a hard worker and wants to make a difference in our parks. He grew up in Anchorage and loves the outdoors. He has always loved being in the Alaska parks, from walking to biking, getting a chance to improve them was something he wanted to do. His first year at YEP was his first job. His favorite part was seeing the work they completed and the joy it brought to the community. He came back as a Senior Crew Member to bring leadership, support, and further develop the Alaska parks.

Auda!
Born in Missoula, MT but growing up in Anchorage, Auda has always been passionate about the outdoors. Whether through cross country running for Service High, spending time in Ninilchik at her family cabin, or working out on trails for her second year with YEP, she’s not one to shy away from an adventure!

Javen!
An avid fisherman, outdoorsman, multi instrumentalist, and lifelong Alaskan. Javen came back for a second season of yep for the companionship and hard work that he greatly enjoyed last season. Looking forward to what comes next!

Addison!
From Eagle River, AK. In her free time she loves to read and do fun crafts. She came back to YEP because she wanted to be outdoors for the summer!

Senior Crew Members play a vital role in YEP crews as the mentors and peer leaders for the new crew members, the morale boosters, and the right hand person to their Crew Leader.

We could not have asked for a more OUTSTANDING group of Senior Crew Members this year. They’ve set the standard for future years to come. We can’t wait to see what they do next!

Crew Member of the Week… Mason! 😎🆒

This guy! We can always count on Mason to keep the vibes up with his positive friendly attitude and quick-wittedness. He’s hard working, shows great initiative, and is a team player.

YEP wouldn’t be the same without this radical guy, well done Mason!

YEP can do it all! 🥏🙌

Crews just completed a 2 week project at Davis Park constructing 18 additional tee pads. This is the start of adding 9 more holes to the already existing 9 hole disc golf course to make it a full 18 hole course!

Working alongside the Anchorage Disc Golf Association, we cleared brush, built structures, laid gravel, poured concrete, and added texture and detail to finish the job!

Another project, CRUSHED! 🥏🙌
