Anchorage Trails (AT) was first established in 1928 to preserve a riding easement for horse riders and later hikers in the Village of Anchorage. In addition to all of the streets (which are declared horse right-of-ways) several dedicated trails were set aside through natural areas of Anchorage. The trails are maintained with annual membership dues paid by Anchorage residents and managed by the vol
unteer board members of the AT. The AT is in a period of revival. Over the years many trails have been lost to new construction or natural causes. The currents board’s mission is to revive the existing trails and to try to expand the existing system.. The trails are deemed usable by horses, hiker/walkers, and for the courageous, non-motorized vehicles such as mountain bikes. Users take responsibility for their own safety on the trails and should utilize care as holes, ruts, branches and other hazards are often present on the trails. Long pants and sturdy shoes are recommended. No golf carts, go-carts or other motorized vehicles are allowed. Enjoy the trails, but please stay on them and do not disturb the nearby homeowners. Be careful when approaching horses on the trails. And, feel free to help maintain the trails by moving branches or picking up litter along the way.
