Aurora Military Housing Residents,
If you haven’t already checked it out, please take a look at the Summer Safety Reminders on the Aurora blog https://www.auroramilitaryhousing.com/blog/summer-safety-reminders/. It is filled with important information related to living on JBER. If these reminders don’t already come to your inbox, please sign up at https://www.auroramilitaryhousing.com/email-sign-up/.
Highlights:
Outdoor Firepits, Grills and Burn Bans:
Garages are not for fires.
Grill responsibly.
Be aware of burn bans.
Sun, Heat and Windows:
There is no air conditioning on JBER. Turn your thermostat down. Do not use “cool” setting on thermostat (it will circulate warm air and will run the blower motor constantly).
Close blinds to decrease the amount of sunlight/heat entering rooms.
Use portable fans.
Open windows.
Screens keep bugs out but aren’t designed to hold the weight of children/pets.
Remove climbable furniture from under windows.
Close and lock windows if leaving kids unattended.
**Aurora will soon have window limiting devices available both at self-help and as a maintenance request. More information to come.**
Playground and Recreation Safety
Report playground damage to Aurora immediately. Many parks have a QR code that will take you to the Aurora website https://www.auroramilitaryhousing.com/maintenance/. You can also call the maintenance line at 907-753-1091.
Monitor children while they are at play. Report any concerns about unattended children to Security Forces at 907-552-3421.
Wildlife Safety
Don’t feed or attempt to pet wildlife.
Bird feeds are only allowed October 30 to April 1.
Keep garbage roll carts inside except on trash day. Do not place them outside the night before.
If aggressive or threatening wildlife is sighted in a neighborhood, it should be reported directly to JBER Security Forces at 907.552.3421. Security Forces will dispatch Conservation Law Enforcement personnel. They use a variety of techniques to track, deter, and maintain wildlife populations on the installation; reports from residents greatly assist their efforts in promoting a safe environment for all.
Please reach out to Aurora Military Housing, your neighborhood mayor or the mayor coordinator ([email protected]) with any questions.
Thank you!
