Students attending CEC’s week-long Ciutmuarluni immersion explored the equipment and systems used to move, monitor, and control materials in industrial settings while learning more about careers in process technology.

Experiences like this give students the opportunity to learn in a hands-on environment, ask questions, and see firsthand how technical skills can lead to career pathways across Alaska’s industries.

As part of the Ciutmuarluni's week-long intensive, students had the opportunity to learn from regional artist Golga Oscar.

Golga introduced students to traditional artforms while sharing his own journey as an artist and entrepreneur. Through hands-on learning and conversation, students explored how cultural knowledge, creativity, and traditional skills can grow into meaningful career and business opportunities.

Ciutmuarluni gives students the opportunity to see that career pathways can be rooted in culture, community, and the knowledge passed down through generations. Quyana Golga, for your meaningful leadership with our students!

Ciutmuarluni is about preparing our youth for their future while keeping Yuuyaraq at the center of the experience.

Throughout the week-long immersion, students take part in daily Elder Talks, creating space for Elders to share knowledge, stories, values, and lived experience. These conversations are intentionally woven into the curriculum alongside career exploration and workforce readiness activities.

By bringing cultural knowledge and career readiness together, Ciutmuarluni helps our next generation explore where they are going while staying connected to who they are and where they come from. Quyana, Noah and Agnes, for your guidance with our youth.

Heading to the 2026 AFN Convention? This is a great opportunity to take care of important documents while you’re there. Passport services, Alaska DMV services, and vital records assistance will be available onsite throughout the Convention.

Need to take care of some important paperwork while you’re at the AFN Convention? We’ve got you covered! 📋

The 2026 AFN Convention will feature convenient on-site government services all three days of the Convention, from:

🇺🇸 U.S. Department of State — Passport Services
🚗 Alaska DMV — Driver and identification services
📜 Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics — Birth, death, marriage, and other vital records

Planning to use one of these services? Come prepared! Bring the identification, supporting documents, photos, and applicable fees required for your specific service.

For passport services, applicants should bring the appropriate application, proof of U.S. citizenship, a valid photo ID, a passport photo, and applicable fees.

📍 All services will be available onsite at the 2026 AFN Convention in Anchorage, on October 22-24, 2026.

Plan ahead. Bring your documents. Take care of business while you’re at the AFN Convention!

🎓 Congratulations to CEC scholarship recipient Tamija Pearson on an incredible achievement!

Tamija recently graduated from Pacific University with her Doctor of Medical Science degree after years of hard work and dedication to her education and career.

Tamija shared her gratitude for the scholarship support she received throughout her educational journey and reflected on what that support has meant to her as an Indigenous woman, mother, and practicing Physician Assistant.

We are proud to celebrate Tamija and this important milestone in her educational journey. Congratulations, Tamija! 🎉

Ciutmuarluni gives students the opportunity to explore different career fields before deciding what comes next. Check out these students getting hands-on experience in the Nursing and Allied Health pathway while visiting Kenai Peninsula College!

Through opportunities like these, students can learn more about healthcare careers, the education and training they require, and what it might be like to pursue a future in the field.

Ciutmuarluni – Striving Forward is underway at Kenai Peninsula College! 🎉

Twenty-five 11th and 12th grade students from across the Calista Region are spending the week at Kenai Peninsula College exploring career and technical education pathways. With culture and Elder knowledge at the core of the experience, students are participating in hands-on activities, exploring career and training opportunities, trying new skills, and discovering what their path beyond high school might look like.

We’re excited to share more of what students are learning and experiencing throughout the week!
