☀️🥵 It’s a hot one, Alaska!
With a heat advisory in effect, it’s a great day to slow down, stay cool, and have a little fun with your littles! 💦📚
Here are a few easy ways to keep children ages 0–5 cool, happy, and learning today:
💧 Make a splash! Fill a bin with a little water and let your child scoop, pour, splash, and play. Add cups, spoons, or bath toys for extra fun.
🧊 Cool down with ice play! Let little hands explore ice cubes in a bowl or tray. Talk about how they feel, what happens when they melt, and whether they float or sink.
🎨 Take the art outside! Try painting with water on the sidewalk or driveway. Watch your creations disappear as they dry!
📚 Have a cool-down storytime. Find a shady or air-conditioned spot, grab a favorite book, and spend some quiet time reading together.
🧺 Keep it simple! Build a blanket fort indoors, have a dance party, or play with blocks while taking plenty of breaks from the heat.
☀️ And remember: Keep little ones hydrated, dress them in lightweight clothing, take frequent breaks in a cool place, and avoid prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
Today’s goal? Stay cool, stay safe, and make some fun memories together! 💙
