This was an amazing honor for my staff and I at Kawerak to be recognized for our dedicated work helping the people from the Bering Strait region of Alaska to succeed in their Education, Employment and Training goals! I love the work I do and the support we get from our Board of Directors and Administration at Kawerak for their continued support and guidance that allows us to enhance services, implement new initiatives, and improve services and community support.

I want to recognize my EESS Leadership Team Kendra Takak, Pamela LaBar Cushman, Deb Trowbridge, Bridie Trainor, Niaomi Brunette, Sara Lizak, Katy Tomter, Denali Whiting, Tiffany Martinson and all of the amazing staff who work directly with students, trainees, participants, consumers, families, and children who are changing the lives of our people day by day. Co-Chair’s Report of ANCET’s very first Annual Conference

From idea to implementation of ANCET’s very first statewide conference, was less than 6 months. Despite this, the planning committee, chaired by Luisa Machuca, worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the conference met the quality standards that our membership deserve.

I am very proud to report that the conference was, in every aspect, a tremendous success. Great care and effort were taken in every detail of the conference to ensure its smooth operation. The conference had more than 150 participants, including presenters, keynote speakers, and attendees. All the information provided was valuable to the quality of services our member tribes strive to provide. The conference also provided access to various state and federal agency contacts, including AK-DOL, AWIB, NAETC, AFL-CIO, Denali Commission, UA-WD, and BIA-DWD, to name a few.

With the high standard established by this first conference, I look forward to our future conferences, and am confident that quality and value for our participating tribes will always be the Executive committee’s highest priority.

William Martin,
Co-Chair
