2025 Fur Rendezvous - This past opening weekend the MSMRRE Great Train Show has had a lot of crowds at the Alaska Railroad Passenger Depot. There is still plenty of opportunities to visit.
Wednesday Mar 4th 9am to 2pm and 8pm to 9pm
Thursday Mar 5th 6:30am to 6pm
Friday Mar 6th 9am to 6pm and 8pm to 9pm
Saturday Mar 7th 6:30pm to 8pm

Many members showed up Tuesday evening to enjoy our Christmas Party. Along with the fellowship exchanging this year's activities and happens, we then enjoyed a very fulfilling meal, gift auction and door prizes. In a few days we start a new year, and this brings us to The Great Train Show during Fur Rondy. Operating trains on three of our layouts in the Alaska Railroad Depot, exchanging stories with present and past railroaders as well as many model railroading families.

This Saturday saw the adventure of the Spirit of 1776 locomotive continue as it backed into the local yard and picked up an awaiting passenger car consist. Once connected and all checks completed, with "Doc" at the controls of the Spirit of 1776. it left the yard with the American Freedom train on a successful tour of the North Star Railroad's large-scale territory.

Saturday, June 7th, the MSMRRE entered into a new world of electronic technology. With the installation of Lionel's "The Bridge", or as I prefer to call it the 'nuclear instrument of mass confusion', the next step was to introduce a locomotive into its world. "Doc" and Bob set to the task, and soon "Doc's" Freedom Train engine, PA-1, Spirit of 1776 was traveling the rails through the magic of the Bridge. Not be satisfied with just one engine, I was coerced in getting out my new ARR 2504, GP-30. It also was inducted into the realm of Bridge magic. So, we now have two engines traveling under the influence of the Bridge magic. What happen to two wires and a transformer ???? I guess we say welcome to the new world of electronic magic.

Seems Boeing is trying to get back into the Air Force 1 business. These two air frames were seen coming through Brovald Yard on a Montana Rail Link train on May 23rd heading for Seattle.
