University of Alaska Foundation The Foundation qualifies as a public charitable organization under Subsection 170 (b) (1) (A) (vi) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The mission of the University of Alaska Foundation is to seek, secure, and steward philanthropic support in partnership
with the University of Alaska system
to help shape Alaska's future. The Board of Regents of the University of Alaska has recognized the University of Alaska Foundation as the entity to manage private gifts made to support all campuses of the University of Alaska system. The Foundation is a tax-exempt organization as described in subsection 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and donations made to the Foundation are deductible according to schedules established under income and estate tax regulations. The Foundation is separate and distinct from the University of Alaska and is governed by its own Board of Directors. These volunteers are composed of prominent Alaskans and include the University President, two members of the Board of Regents, and the Chancellors from each campus.

Today is a national giving day dedicated entirely to donor-advised funds (DAFs), one of the fastest-growing forms of charitable giving nationwide.

Already have a DAF? You can immediately impact University of Alaska Fairbanks, University of Alaska Southeast and UAA: University of Alaska Anchorage students, programs, research and more by giving directly from your DAF at partner.freewill.com/smartgiving/ualaska/daf/donor.

If you are curious about what a DAF is, think of it as a charitable savings account that allows you to contribute assets and take an immediate tax deduction. You can then grant the funds to your favorite causes (like the University of Alaska) over time.
