Chugach Gem and Mineral Society We are an Anchorage Local Society for rock collectors and geologists alike. We have awarded scholarships to many students and have funded many events.

CGMS provides opportunities for learning more about the Earth Sciences, educational opportunities for students, and promotes social enjoyment of the hobby of "rockhounding." We go on field trips across Alaska. Members welcome on any trip. If you are not yet a member there is a small membership fee due prior to going on any trip. ($20 per individual and $25 for family per year). We have two meeting

a month, bring a rock for show and tell. We generally have a presentation or speaker at each meeting. We invite you to bring your family.

With Dr. Patrick Druckenmiller, Alaska dinosaur expert from UAF as our guest speaker, member interest resulted in a modern-day record sixty-five attendees at our potluck social last night! He taught about fossils to the R.O.C.K.S. kids before dinner, then gave us all an excellent presentation on the world's northernmost dinosaurs. He continues to lead research expeditions to the dino beds along the Colville River and Denali National Park.
