Thanks to Saagulik Lizzie and so many others for this powerful statement, consistent with basic human respect, national and international law, our Constitution, and our nation's long established norms, values, and highest ideals. It is also consistent with decades of productive and collegial cooperation across the circumpolar North.

The UArctic Congress 2026 takes place from May 26 to 29, 2026 in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. The event is hosted by the University of the Faroe Islands in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, and the Faroe Marine Research Institute.

The themes of the UArctic Congress 2026 follow the Kingdom of Denmark’s Arctic Council Chairship priorities, focusing on climate change, sustainable development, and the well-being of Arctic peoples.

We invite abstract proposals aligned with the sessions that have been accepted, under the following six main themes:

1. Sustainable Economic Development and International Cooperation
2. Oceans
3. Climate Change in the Arctic
4. Biodiversity
5. Indigenous Peoples and Northern Communities
6. Other

Deadline for abstract proposals: 15 December 2025, 16:00 CET.

The UArctic Congress is a biennial event that brings together a science conference and key UArctic meetings into a single gathering. In addition to high-level plenary and parallel sessions, the Congress also includes the 2026 meeting of the UArctic Assembly and a UArctic Rectors meeting, as well as social events. It is therefore an excellent platform for all UArctic members to engage with each other, establish new connections, and promote cooperation in circumpolar research and higher education.

We invite abstract proposals aligned with the sessions that have been accepted. When submitting, authors are instructed to select the relevant session from a list shown during the submission process and available also here.
