✨ Meet Megan, one of our 2026 summer interns!
From preparing for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games and the 2026 Special Olympics Alaska Summer Games to helping create immersive experiences at Camp Shriver, Megan got a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create inclusive opportunities for athletes of all abilities.
One of her favorite moments came at Alaska Rock Gym, when athlete Lindsay climbed with adaptive equipment and the entire gym came together to cheer her toward the top.
For Megan, it was a powerful reminder that inclusion isn’t just about participating—it’s about celebrating, supporting and showing up for one another.
Studying Sports Management with a minor in Public Relations at Gonzaga University, Megan hopes to pursue a career in sport development and help others experience the connection, community and lifelong friendships that sport can create.
This summer, she says she learned something just as important: bravery builds confidence. From figuring out new tasks to building professional relationships, Megan leaves her internship with greater confidence in herself—and inspired by the courage and growth she witnessed in Special Olympics athletes.
Thank you, Megan, for bringing your energy, curiosity and heart to Special Olympics Alaska!
