Senior Box Build Week is in full swing! 📦

A big thank you to the Fred Meyer team for spending time with us packing food boxes for Alaska seniors and potato bagging. We were also glad to have Food Bank of Alaska board member Astrit Iljazi there lending a hand alongside the crew.

The August free food distribution schedule is live!

Food Bank of Alaska’s network of mobile pantries and partner distribution sites across Anchorage and the Mat-Su are open and ready to welcome you.

Whether you’re looking for food for your household or sharing this resource with a neighbor, friend, or family member, the calendar makes it easy to see what’s available and when.

Credit Union 1 staff are in our warehouse today sorting fresh produce rescued from local grocery stores that would have otherwise gone to the landfill.

This food will be distributed to our pantry partners and mobile food pantries throughout the weekend, helping provide fresh, nutritious food to more than 600 families on an average weekend.

We’re grateful for our grocery store partners who donate this food, and for volunteers like Credit Union 1 who help make sure it’s sorted, packed, and ready to reach families across our community. 💚

Meet Shara! 🤎

Since joining Food Bank of Alaska in May, Shara Cooley has been serving as our Chief Financial Officer, helping ensure our resources are managed with care so we can continue serving communities across Alaska.

She brings more than 13 years of nonprofit finance experience and a passion for mission-driven work.

Outside the office, Shara loves hiking, volunteering, backyard campfires with family and spending time with her dog, two cats and a ball python. 🐍

Big news from Food Bank of Alaska! 🎉

We are excited to celebrate Rebecca Guyer’s promotion to Chief Programs Officer!

Rebecca joined Food Bank of Alaska in 2019 and has held four roles within the organization. During that time, she has worked across nearly every part of our programs, helped strengthen partnerships throughout Alaska and expanded our reach in rural communities.

Now, she will lead our statewide programs and partnerships, helping build sustainable systems that better serve Alaskans experiencing food insecurity.

When she is not working to improve food access, you can find Rebecca cheering on her nephew at soccer and baseball games or getting lost in a good book. 📚⚽
