This is who is building community for Native students at UAA (and with our community outside of campus too!)

We had an amazing year… some of the highlights of what we did:
- Potlucks and dinners
- Community Yugtun classes (continuing through May and a new class runs in June)

- NSC Indigenous-Made Market
- Flatstitch Beading workshop (quyanaa, Peter!)
- Yup’ik/Iñupiaq Spelling Bee
- Policy Workshop (quyana, Geran Tarr!!)
- ongoing advocacy and community building!!

Today, February 16th is Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, when we honor the life, work, and legacy of Elizabeth Ḵaax̲gal.aat Peratrovich. Her advocacy resulted in the passing of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1945, the first anti-discrimination law in the so-called United States.

Native Student Council carries on her legacy today through advocacy for Native students, Native Peoples and communities, and others who experience discrimination today. There is still so much to be done.
