🌺 OUR YOUTH NEED US — AND WE ARE HERE TO HELP 🌺

The Samoan Tribal Council of Alaska is reaching out to our Samoan and Hawaiian families throughout Alaska who may have a young person struggling and simply don’t know where to turn.

If your child or teen is currently at McLaughlin Youth Center, involved with the juvenile justice system, transitioning back into the community, struggling on the streets, experiencing homelessness or instability, or simply heading down a path that has you worried — please reach out to us.

You do not have to wait until things get worse before asking for support.

Through our Youth Services, the Samoan Tribal Council of Alaska is working to help connect youth and families with support that may include:

Parents, grandparents, guardians and family members: If you have a Samoan or Hawaiian youth who is struggling, please don’t give up on them.

Sometimes our young people need someone outside of their immediate family to stand beside them, advocate for them, help them develop a plan, and remind them that their current circumstances do not have to determine their future.

🌺 Samoan Tribal Council of Alaska — Supporting Our Youth, Strengthening Our Future 🌺

Members of STCOA visited the McLaughlin Youth Center with an important mission: to support young people currently in juvenile detention and help those preparing to return home successfully while they transition back into their families and communities.

We believe that a young person’s mistakes should not define their future. Our youth need guidance, accountability, encouragement, and people who are willing to stand beside them as they work toward a better path.

Through our reentry support services, as part of our restorative justice program the STCOA is committed to helping youth prepare for life after detention by connecting them with resources such as:

Our work does not end when a young person walks out the doors of detention halls. That is often when the real work begins.

We want our youth to know that there is a community ready to receive them, guide them, hold them accountable, and help them build a future filled with purpose and opportunity.

We are honored to work toward stronger partnerships that create meaningful pathways for youth involved in the juvenile justice system.

When we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of our families and our entire community.

🚨 LE TALA FOU | BREAKING NEWS 🇼🇸🇦🇸

History is being made once again in the City by the Bay.

Per the , San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie will partner with the National Samoan Chiefs Council to officially raise the flags of Samoa 🇼🇸 and American Samoa 🇦🇸 at San Francisco City Hall on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in celebration of Samoan Heritage Week.

In a powerful tribute to the enduring legacy and contributions of the Samoan community, San Francisco City Hall will also be illuminated in red and blue, the colors proudly representing the Samoan people throughout the evening.

The historic ceremony will feature stirring performances of the National Anthems of Samoa and American Samoa by Samoan powerhouse vocalists Uribe Fa’atasiga-Fa’ataui and The Su’a Sisters, while Disney’s young Moana star, Amaya Masoli, will also take part in this unforgettable celebration.

This moment builds upon a rich legacy. In 2001, then-Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr. welcomed the Samoan community to City Hall as the Samoan flags were raised alongside legendary WWE Hall of Famers The Wild Samoans (The Anoa’i Brothers) and community leaders Peseta Tumua and Ifopo Tusipa—a landmark celebration that continues to inspire generations.

More than a flag raising, this is a celebration of a people whose culture, leadership, resilience, and service have helped shape San Francisco and the greater Bay Area for decades. As we honor our ancestors and celebrate our future, we invite our entire community to stand together in pride.
