DO NOT USE BIRD FEEDERS!
It is summer and birds or squirrels do not need to be fed! The bear population however is digging into bird feeders and causing issues.

The last thing any of us want is for the bears to be killed. This behavior will begin the process.

Government Hill is a STZ ( Secure Trash Zone) and we must use trash receptacles that are bear resistant. However, having bird feeders out is an invitation for bears to graze.

Feed the birds in the winter when there is limited food and the bears are hibernating.

If we are diligent, the bears will eventually move on to other places where food is abundant.

Attached is a website explaining this from ADF&G.
