Our purpose is to recognize and honor nurses for their unwavering dedication and commitment to the nursing profession.

In addition, we aim to offer a heartfelt farewell to these individuals, celebrating their compassion and devotion to the care of others.

Today, the Jones County Nursing Honor Guard had the privilege of honoring the life and legacy of Dorothy Downing, who passed away on April 2, 2026. Her funeral service was held today, April 9,2026, where we gathered to recognize a remarkable nurse,colleague, and caregiver.

Dorothy dedicated her life to nursing, serving with compassion,skill, and unwavering commitment. Throughout her long career, she cared for countless patients in many roles- school nurse, OR nurse, ER nurse, traveling nurse, and float nurse. She was one of the original Nurses of Hope, a testament to her pioneering spirit and her desire to uplift others.

Today we honored Dorothy with the traditions of the Nursing Honor Guard- a final tribute to a nurse who lived the Nightingale Pledge in every chapter of her life. Her dedication, her gentle strength, and her lifelong service will not be forgotten.

May her legacy continue to inspire, and may she rest in eternal peace.

Today, the Nurse Honor Guard- Jones County had the privilege of honoring the remarkable life and service of Grace McDonough, who reached the incredible milestone of age 100.
As we performed the Honor Guard tribute today, we reflected on the generations of nurses who follow in her footsteps- each inspired by women like Grace, who gave so much of themselves to the profession and to their communities.

Today, we come together with full hearts to honor the life and legacy of Kimberly Steiner, a beloved nurse whose compassion and dedication touched so many.

Kimberly lived the true spirit of nursing—serving with kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment. Whether comforting a patient, supporting a family, or encouraging a fellow nurse, she shared her gifts with humility and grace.

As the Jones County Nursing Honor Guard, it is our privilege to stand in her honor and recognize the contributions she made to the nursing profession. Kimberly’s light continues in every life she touched and every act of care she gave.

Yesterday, the Jones County Nurse Honor Guard had the solemn privilege of honoring Sharon Roller, RN and officially releasing her from her nursing duties. We remember her unwavering dedication to the nursing profession and the countless lives she touched with her compassionate care. Rest in peace, Sharon.
