Today we celebrate World Polio Day!
As a Rotary International focus, it’s important to share some facts:
🔅 Polio was a dreaded disease of the 1950’s affecting many of our communities - creating respiratory symptoms that affected some so severely the “Iron Lung” was invented to assist those who couldn’t breathe.
🔅 The polio vaccine was developed in 1955 by Jonas Salk
🔅 By 1985, our country was largely free of Polio but there were still 1,000 children infected daily across the world.
🔆 To date, over 3 Billion children worldwide have been vaccinated. 
🔅 Currently cases are only documented in Afghanistan & Pakistan. 
🔅Donations of just $100 creates vaccine for 33 children.
Today Rotary clubs worldwide came together to walk and show our support in the efforts to end Polio worldwide. Anamosa Rotary is proud to be a part of this effort!!
