Chelsey loved her family very much.

She enjoyed just being with them whether it was on the beach in Florida or just watching movies in the family room. The love she showed for her niece (Brylea) and nephew (Talon) was great. They brought much joy to her life just by the way they laughed and played in her presence. Chelsey was an avid reader – she especially liked the harry Potter book series. She enjoyed going to the late night movi

e premiers of harry Potter with her sister and school friends. She was an outstanding athlete excelling in softball. her softball career started at a young age as a catcher while playing for the Linn County Lightning softball team. She teamed up with one of her childhood friends to form one of the best catcher/pitcher combinations in the State of Iowa during her high school career. Opposing players rarely stole a base on Chelsey – they knew their chances of success were very small. Once you were a friend of Chelsey’s you had a lifetime friend. She would defend her friends in all situations. Friends have told us they never heard her say a bad word about others. Chelsey very much wanted to be a mom. When she learned of her disease she accepted the fact with grace that she would not be able to have her own children. She knew that there was a baby or child that needed the love of a mother – the type of love she would bring to them. Our beloved Chelsey lost her battle with uterine and ovarian cancer on August 11th of 2014. She never let cancer truly beat her spirit. She battled it with courage, strength, integrity, determination, and dignity. She brought people from all over the world together in prayer for her and our family. When Chelsey heard about a benefit being planned on her behalf she did not feel she deserved it. She told her family that if she should pass before the funds raised from the benefit were gone she wanted us to use the money to help someone with the cost of adopting a baby if they were unable to conceive on their own. Our family has started a foundation in Chelsey’s name with the sole purpose of helping other families with the cost of adoption. This is Chelsey’s legacy – in her own way she again defeated her disease. She will be a mother to many children! her dream will live on. The name of the foundation is “Chelsey’s Dream Foundation”. All funds raised each year (with the exception of minor expenses for supplies) will be used toward adoption expenses. There will never be a salary paid to anyone to run the foundation. We are very happy that the foundation has been able to help 10 families since the foundation was started. The 14 adopted children are very special to our family. We are confident Chelsey directed us to them. Since the story of adoption assistance to these families was publicized we have been contacted by other families that are anxiously awaiting a baby or young child to adopt and love. Chelsey’s dream will be fulfilled many times over. The foundation is an approved 501-c3
organization. There is an application process for those who wish to apply for adoption assistance. Please email us to obtain an application form and additional information on the Foundation.

We are happy to introduce Kassidy! She is the beautiful daughter of Wade & Kaylee! Her smiles bring great joy to her mom & dad. She is surrounded by love, hope, and dreams for a bright future!

Chelsey’s Dream Foundation had a great night - we are so happy to introduce you to little Annie! Her dad and mom Eric & Melanie, along with Annie’s siblings (Micah, Hope, Grace & John) are overjoyed to welcome her into their family.

Thank you Two Scoops Ice Cream Shop in Anamosa!

Two Scoops had their vintage ice cream truck at the 10th Annual Softball Tourney and donated a portion of their proceeds to Chelsey’s Dream Foundation!

If you love ice cream and have not had Two Scoops I strongly suggest you stop by! It is the best!

Our hearts are overflowing with joy this Easter season as we welcome Nerissa into the Chelsey’s Dream Foundation family. She is the daughter of Terry and Jill and the sweet little sister to Noah and Jamison. Nerissa is a beautiful little girl who delights in playing with her big brothers! We are thankful to all of our donors—your support is a precious gift to our family. Even more, it is a blessing to the families served through Chelsey’s foundation. The annual foundation Christmas party was a hit, filling hearts with joy and creating unforgettable memories!! It's truly special to connect with Chelseys' families and share in the beauty of adoption, knowing Chelseys' heart overflowed with happiness last night.

This event brings families together, fostering a sense of community and belonging. The Fun Station was full of excitement, as beaming smiles lit up the faces of the children (and parents 😊) enjoying the delightful activities - a haven for kids of all ages to explore and laugh! I think some of the parents were more wore than their kiddos!!

A heartfelt thank you to Santa for spreading cheer and making the evening even more magical with your presence!
