Friday May 11th was the Day of Caring in Anamosa, and many people deserve a big THANK YOU for their help.

First a Thank You to Amy Keltner with the Jones County Volunteer Center for organizing the volunteers who where such a big help on that day.

The day started with several volunteers from Jones County Regional Hospital who w**ded several flower beds. The beds were in great shape for mulch and wood chips to be added.

Next came several students from the Anamosa High School with teachers. One group spread a huge pile of mulch on all the flower beds on the flat portion of the arboretum, while another group put wood chips on all the beds in the shade garden and also put top soil along the creek bed for future expansion of the cobblestone creek.

Also, a big thanks to Cy's Tree Service who provided wood chips, and to the Anamosa Parks and Rec department for the mulch and shovels.

It was a wonderful day, the rain held off just long enough to get all the work done, and everyone made the arboretum even more beautiful than it already was.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!!

Since this is the first posting of 2018, the biggest of thanks goes out to Rockwell Collins for a donation of $2000 from their Green Grant program. This beautiful park would not have been possible without their generosity over the last 11 years. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Rockwell Collins!

Tis the end of wonderful season and we'd like to give thanks to several people and organizations that have given their support and time to make this park more beautiful. Their names are given in the order of their help.

Amy Keltner with the Jones County Volunteer Center has sent many great volunteers our way starting in the spring with a community support day. Many helpers from FM Bank and individuals pulled w**ds, spread wood chips, and spruced up flower beds for the upcoming season.

Thanks Bernita for w**ding the tickseed beds.

Thanks to Joe for his fantastic work helping to w**d, spread mulch, and plant trees.

Jim came out to help with flower beds and mowing and had so much fun he brought Annette and Merrill along to join in.

Brady definitely earned his silver chord hours helping with many projects including w**ding beds, putting landscape edging around the beds, and turning sod for new beds.

Thanks to Riley for cutting lilies and hostas at the end of the season.

And a big thanks to the Anamosa football squad that came out and w**ded, cut down lilies, and spread four loads of wood chips in record time. It was great seeing them having fun working as a team to help the community.

Lastly, thanks to Tina and Kirk for donating two trees, several cobblestones to add to the creek bed, and many limestone blocks that will be used to create a new flower bed.

Pictures of their work and donations are shown in the the 2017 photo album.

Another season and first come the Thank You's to those who have so generously helped keep this beautiful park going.

First and foremost, Thank You to Rockwell Collins who gave another grant of $1000 this year from their Green Grant program. This park would not be possible without your support.

Next, Thank You to the Parks and Rec department and the City of Anamosa for bringing 10 truckloads of wood chips to use in the flower beds to keep the w**ds down.

And lastly, Thank You to the Anamosa State Penitentiary for allowing inmates to help with spreading the wood chips and planting two beautiful trees. Their labor is greatly appreciated and is a big help to the community.

The arboretum keeps getting more beautiful with each passing year.
