We are deeply grateful to the Sun Family Foundation for an extraordinary investment in Meals on Wheels Orange County’s technology and data infrastructure, helping us shape the future of healthy aging in Orange County.

Technological infrastructure may not be the most visible or glamorous part of our work, but it is critical to strengthening our operations, improving efficiencies, expanding our impact, and ensuring we can continue meeting the evolving needs of Orange County’s growing older adult population.

This transformative three-year grant will provide MOWOC with the tools and information needed to go above and beyond in the work we do. We are especially grateful to the Sun Family Foundation for seeing the bigger picture and investing in the essential, behind-the-scenes systems that help make our mission possible.

This journey wouldn’t be possible without the incredible volunteers, supporters, and community partners who continue to show up and make a difference. Together, we’re providing more than nourishment. We’re helping older adults feel supported, valued, and empowered to live with dignity and independence.

Today, on National Cooking Day, we’re celebrating the power of a healthy meal to nourish the body and support overall well-being.

Through our Lunch Café Program, adults ages 60+ enjoy freshly prepared, dietitian-approved meals at 24 senior centers across Orange County. Each meal is thoughtfully planned to meet daily nutritional needs and support healthy, independent aging.

The Lunch Café also provides a welcoming place for older adults to gather with friends, share conversations, and build meaningful connections that can help reduce loneliness and isolation.

At Meals on Wheels Orange County, we’re proud to create opportunities for better health, stronger connections, and brighter days for older adults throughout our community.

The holiday season is a little brighter when we come together. ❤️

Last week, we hosted a corporate volunteer event with Grant Thornton. Their team came together to create and fill 300 gift bags for our holiday gift program. Through our Heart of the Community Holiday Gift Program, Meals on Wheels Orange County brings together community members, volunteers, and corporate partners to create approximately 900 personalized holiday care packages for the older adults we serve.

From decorating gift bags and writing heartfelt holiday cards to carefully assembling each package, every detail is a reminder that our older neighbors are thought of, valued, and cared for.

A special thank you to the Grant Thornton team and their 50 incredible volunteers for creating 300 holiday gifts for our homebound older adults. Your time, generosity, and thoughtfulness are helping make the holidays brighter for so many in our community. 🎁✨

Life has thrown its share of challenges at Marvin. Throughout his career as a rescue pilot, he bravely saved lives and offered hope in the most harrowing circumstances.

Marvin’s career ended abruptly with a devastating diagnosis of cancer. Despite enduring multiple rounds of chemotherapy, including treatment for a second recurrence, the toll on his health was significant. The chemotherapy caused memory loss, making it impossible for him to continue working. Then, a car accident left him hospitalized for over a month and reliant on a walker.

During these challenges, Marvin has found solace and support through Meals on Wheels Orange County, discovering a vital source of nutrition, comfort, and connection, just as his parents had years ago when they received meals delivered to their home.

“Meals on Wheels has ensured I have nutritious food," Marvin shared. “The meals are made with exactly what I need, and the variety keeps me healthy.” A lifelong foodie whose parents once owned a restaurant, Marvin used to enjoy cooking. Now, he relies on the Meals on Wheels Orange County team to provide meals and meaningful connections that nourish both his body and spirit.

Marvin’s story is a powerful testament to the impact of Meals on Wheels Orange County. Through the generosity of supporters and the dedication of volunteers and staff, older adults like Marvin can face life’s challenges with hope and the assurance that they are not alone. Together, we are creating a community where everyone matters and kindness comes full circle!
