CAIR-CA CEO Hussam Ayloush recently delivered a powerful reminder at the 2026 ISNA Convention: Muslim civic engagement is not optional in the face of the ongoing genocide in Palestine, rising Islamophobia, anti-Muslim policies, and threats to our mosques, schools, and communities.

Voting is an important part of civic engagement. Participating in the upcoming midterm elections allows us to help shape the policies and decisions that affect our communities, hold elected officials accountable, and build our long-term political power.

We unequivocally condemn the horrific terrorist attack targeting a funeral service at the Hamoud Church in Jordan’s Karak Governorate, which has resulted in the deaths of at least seven people and injured dozens more.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those killed, pray for the full and swift recovery of the injured, and stand in solidarity with Jordan’s Christian community and all those affected by this tragedy.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has launched a wave of indiscriminate immigration arrests across the state without public announcement. The operation, which ICE has reportedly named “Operation Safe California,” began in San Diego earlier this month, will last at least 45 days, and directs federal agents to arrest anyone they believe lacks immigration status.
