Read below for encouragement!
A timely and encouraging message for you today from CEAI Executive Director, David Schmus:
While in Phoenix this weekend for the AWAKE One-Day Experience we held in partnership with Grand Canyon University, I was checking the news about Ukraine. I read this statement from Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky:
“The fight is here. I need ammunition, not a ride.”
He said this in response to the offer from the United States for safe passage out of the country before he could be killed or captured by the Russians.
As I read this, I believe the Spirit whispered to me that this is also true of us. So many are leaving the schools. The heat is on. Many students are out of control, and many teachers lack adequate support. It can feel like we're under siege.
Remember, we have a spiritual enemy who would like nothing more than to drive us from public schools. But let me say to you...
The spiritual battle is in our schools...you don't need a way out, you need ammunition to continue the fight.
What kind of ammunition? The kind that comes from spending time in the Word. The ammunition that comes from worshipping on our knees and faces in the presence of God. The strength that comes from praying alone and with others. The power to stand that comes from taking up the full armor of God (Ephesians 6).
While we know that God occasionally does lead individuals out of being public school educators, we at CEAI want to support those called to stay with "ammunition." Call us to pray with you or submit a prayer request. Sign up for and read our Daily Devotionals. Bring an AWAKE or LIFT event to your city or community. Gather teachers on your campus with the help of the LIFT Kit. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. We can't continue doing what we've done and expect different results.
Remember that God called Gideon a mighty warrior (Judges 6:12) when he was fearfully hiding from the enemy. He sees the mighty warrior in you that you can't see. Your students and colleagues are desperate for you to step out in bold faith to do your part to set the captives free from fear, hopelessness, and all the enemy has in store for them. Let them see Jesus in you as you contend for His purposes in our schools.
Blessings,
David
