Jessica Becerra and Harold K. Arscott are the creative, business, and technical visionaries putting in the work to build Tree of New America™ and its Sustainability Ecosystem™ platform.

They were honored to spend the day in Los Angeles at the St. Vincent Meals on Wheels La Dolce Vita Gala Dinner, seated as guests alongside leaders from Kroger and the Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation, pioneers in food recovery and hunger relief.

For Jessica and Hal, who are building a national platform from the ground up, it was both humbling and eye-opening to witness what committed organizations can accomplish when they work together.

St. Vincent Meals on Wheels serves more than a thousand people each day, and seeing that work up close was a powerful reminder of what scale, discipline, compassion, and collaboration can accomplish.

Truly humbling. Truly inspiring. And a powerful reminder of why Jessica and Hal continue putting in the work—because the work matters.

This past Monday 09/28/2026, the Tree of New America™ was deeply honored to be recognized by the Irvine City Council as part of a celebration honoring the achievements and contributions of Hispanic and Latino leaders.

When Tree of New America looked toward its future, we made a deliberate decision to seek out the person we believed was best qualified to lead that next chapter. That person is Jessica Becerra, Tree of New America Founding Member, and our President and CEO.

Hispanic and Latino Americans now represent 20.5% of the U.S. population—roughly one in every five Americans. Their economic impact is equally significant: the 2024 U.S. Latino GDP Report estimated the Latino economy at approximately $3.6 trillion in 2022. And according to the U.S. Census Bureau, Hispanics accounted for just under 71% of total U.S. population growth between 2022 and 2023.

That makes the recognition of Hispanic and Latino leadership not only culturally meaningful, but reflective of a community that is playing an increasingly important role in America’s demographic and economic future.

We are so proud of Jessica, grateful for her leadership, and thankful to the City of Irvine and the Irvine City Council for recognizing the work of the Tree of New America™ and the importance of Hispanic and Latino leadership in our community.

Tree of New America was honored to attend the Hunger Action Month Panel Event focused on Retail Food Recovery and the critical role grocery rescue plays in addressing food insecurity across Orange County. Thank you Kroger Salvador Ramirez

It was a powerful conversation with leaders from across our community who are working to ensure good food reaches families instead of going to waste.

A special thank you to Claudia Keller, President of Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, for her leadership and for bringing together such an important conversation around food recovery, food security, and sustainable solutions.

At Tree of New America, we believe food recovery is more than rescuing food — it’s about building stronger systems, partnerships, and pathways that connect resources directly to the communities that need them.

Together, we can turn surplus into nourishment and resources into hope. 🌳❤️

"What began with delivering surplus food to individuals and families facing transportation barriers in HUD-supported temporary and permanent supportive housing is growing into something we hope will help communities far beyond our own.

Over the past year, working alongside our Community Food Support Coalition, OC partners—including Mary’s Kitchen Pantry and Seeking Him Outreach—we’ve turned practical experience into the Tree of New America™ Sustainability Ecosystem™. One principle guides its design: make daily operations, reporting, and compliance easier for pantries, donors, and everyone within the Ecosystem.

Built through innovation, ingenuity, determination, and plenty of blood, sweat, and tears, the Sustainability Ecosystem™ brings daily food-rescue operations, compliance, and reporting together. It empowers nonprofits to build direct relationships with donors and local government agencies, reducing reliance on intermediaries or food-recovery brokers. We’re now introducing it to nonprofits throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties and preparing to demonstrate its potential to government partners.

Our goal is to make the platform available at no charge to qualifying nonprofits, helping extend our impact from hundreds of neighbors to hundreds of thousands across California. Looking toward a planned national unveiling during the 2028 Olympic Games, we hope—with community and government support—to help organizations reach millions nationwide.

"The Tree of New America™, and Seeking Him Outeach wish to thank our new friends at the NARA Foundation for their generous food donation made to Mary's Kitchen on September 18th 2026.

After a year of developing the Tree of New America™ Sustainability Ecosystem™ in support of daily operations and reporting at Mary’s Kitchen, we’re now ready to bring this integrated pantry management platform to other pantries and nonprofit organizations across Orange County to assist with their SB 1383 compliance obligations and beyond.

NARA Foundation’s confidence in the platform’s reporting helped establish a partnership we hope will grow into recurring monthly non-perishable food support for Mary’s Kitchen.

Their trust reinforces our belief that a system connecting daily operations with transparent reporting can also build meaningful partnerships. That confidence encourages us to share the platform’s potential with local government and other community agencies.
