October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we want to take a minute to say thank you.

Pastors do so much that most people never see: praying, counseling, encouraging, showing up in hard moments, serving families, and carrying the weight of ministry week after week.

Compass Pregnancy Center is closed today, Monday, October 12th, in observance of Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Here in Anadarko, many offices are closed today, including seven tribal complexes, local banks, and the post office.

We will reopen Tuesday, October 13th and be ready to serve as usual.

Almost half.

In Oklahoma, 47.7% of child maltreatment victims in 2022 were children younger than six years old.

Parenting can be exhausting. Lack of sleep, financial stress, isolation, relationship problems, and simply not knowing what to do next can make hard seasons even harder.

Compass Pregnancy Center cannot promise that support alone prevents child abuse. But we do believe early support matters.

When parents have someone to call, practical resources, parenting education, encouragement, and people willing to walk beside them, they are better equipped to handle the pressures that come with raising children.

That is one reason our free parenting classes and ongoing support are so important to us. You do not have to be struggling, court ordered, or in crisis to use them. Sometimes asking for help before things become overwhelming is one of the best things a parent can do.

October is Infant Loss Awareness Month.

For many families, pregnancy and infant loss is a grief carried quietly. There may be no words that make it easier, but there can still be compassion, prayer, and support.

This month, we remember every precious life and the mothers, fathers, grandparents, and families who carry that loss with them.

Pregnancy puts extra demands on your body, and that is one reason prenatal vitamins matter so much.

Ideally, a woman would begin taking a prenatal vitamin about 3 months before becoming pregnant. But if you are already pregnant and have not started yet, do not panic, starting as soon as you know you are pregnant is important.

Prenatal vitamins help provide nutrients your body and growing baby need during pregnancy, including folic acid, iron, and other essential vitamins and minerals.

Quick tip: if prenatal vitamins make you sick in the morning, try taking them in the evening or whenever you eat your largest meal of the day.

At Compass Pregnancy Center, eligible clients can receive a FREE 6-month supply of prenatal vitamins through Vitamin Angels.

Over the past year, Compass Pregnancy Center served families in very real, practical ways:

- 1,520 classes completed
- 648 client visits
- 65 new clients
- 38 ultrasounds
- 33 pregnancy tests
- 8,273 diapers given
- 42 cans of formula
- 243 new baby clothing items
- 8 new car seats
- 5 new cribs
- 51 gift bags given

And one number means more to us than all the others:

- 10 professions of faith.

Behind every number is a person who walked through our doors needing help, answers, encouragement, resources, or simply someone to care.

This does not happen because of one person or one team.

It happens because you give, you volunteer, you pray, you donate supplies, your churches support us, and local businesses step up.

So when you look at these numbers, we hope you see your part in them too.

We are looking for the right volunteer - not just any volunteer.

Compass Pregnancy Center is growing, and we are looking for someone who feels genuinely called to serve families through this ministry.

This is not about filling a few empty hours or looking for a job. We are looking for someone who believes in the mission, wants to serve, and is willing to show up consistently and learn how Compass works from the inside.

The right person will be:

• Reliable and dependable
• Comfortable using computers and learning new software
• Organized and able to follow through
• Good with people and able to handle confidential information
• Comfortable serving in a distinctly Christian, pro-life ministry
• Willing to help wherever needed - not just with the “fun” jobs

Volunteer opportunities are available:

Mondays & Thursdays: 12-5 PM
Tuesdays: 2-5:30 PM

You can serve one day, multiple days, or whatever consistent schedule works.

And while we are not advertising a paid position, we believe the best way to find future team members is to first see someone’s heart, character, reliability, and ability to serve.

Double Bucks Month made a BIG difference for our families.

During September, our clients used the Baby Bucks and Daddy Dollars they earned through classes to take home:

• 2 bassinets
• 3 car seats
• 1 baby swing
• 2 play pens
• 1 baby bathtub
• Plus clothing, diapers, wipes, and plenty of other baby essentials

That is what Earn While You Learn is supposed to do.

Parents put in the time.
They take the classes.
They earn the rewards.
Then they use those rewards for things their family actually needs.

We loved seeing so many parents take advantage of Double Bucks Month and prepare for their babies in a practical way.

Thank you to everyone who helps keep our Baby Store stocked so we can continue offering this kind of support.

A new update from Oklahoma this week.

Governor Kevin Stitt filed an amended version of Executive Order 2025-16 on September 29, strengthening restrictions on public funding for organizations affiliated with abortion providers.

The order directs state agencies and the Oklahoma Health Care Authority to make sure public funds and SoonerCare participation follow Oklahoma’s current laws and policies regarding abortion.

For us at Compass Pregnancy Center, this is another reminder that the work of supporting women and families continues every single day.

We will keep providing pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, education, resources, practical help, and compassionate support to moms, dads, babies, and families in our community.

Whatever changes happen at the state level, our mission stays the same:

Be here. Serve well. Walk with families.
