The Oklahoma Arts Council, in partnership with Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, and Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City, seeks an artist or artist team to create a dynamic and visually impactful mural that will welcome people from around the world to Oklahoma. A project of the Oklahoma Art in Public Places program, the mural will benefit state tourism and commerce objectives while fostering pride among residents.

For the mural, artists will include their interpretation of the new Official Brand of the State of Oklahoma. The vision for the work is a signature mural that projects Oklahoma as an ideal place for people to live, work, and thrive. Colorful imagery and a unified aesthetic are priorities.

The artwork location is anticipated to be a wall near the west escalators in the lower-level baggage claim area that is accessible to all airport visitors, passengers, and public arriving to Oklahoma City. The area is approximately 79.5 inches tall and 347.5 inches long.

The artist or artist team selected will receive $6,000 to create the mural. Artists will be responsible for design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of the artwork within the given budget. All costs associated with the project are covered by the budget.

This opportunity is open to artists living in Oklahoma regardless of age, race, class, national origin, creed, gender, gender expression, religious affiliation, physical or mental ability. The Oklahoma Arts Council, Lieutenant Governor Pinnell, and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce encourage artistic diversity.
Deadline for submissions is August 23, 2021. Download the request for proposals for complete details about the project.
