Calling all bookworms in Anacortes, WA!

Inspir’Action Book Club, presented by Friends of the Salish Sea and Transition Fidalgo, strives to promote awareness of the world around us, spread inspiration, and lead to action in our community. Join a place where we can learn, share, and build resilience as we push forward to continuously make the world a better place.

We'll be reading...

Zero Waste by Kathryn Kellog (July 17th): This book is the ultimate guide to reducing waste in your kitchen, teaching you how to buy in bulk, avoid unnecessary packaging, up-cycle jars, and so much more!

Close to Home by Thor Hanson (August 21st): “We all live on nature’s doorstep, but we often overlook it. From backyards to local parks, the natural places we see the most may well be the ones we know the least.”

Carbon: The Book of Life (September 25th): “Carbon is the only element that animates the entirety of the living world. Though only comprising a tiny fraction of Earth’s composition, our planet is lifeless without it.”

No More Tears: The Dark Secrets of Johnson & Johnson (September 10th): “An explosive, deeply reported exposé of one of America’s oldest and most trusted pharmaceutical companies, from an award-winning investigative journalist.”

The mission of this book club is to provide a place where we can learn, share, and build resilience as we push forward to continuously make changes in our lives and community. Space is limited. We can’t wait to read with you!

💙Happy Orca Action Month from the Stormwater Project! Whether you prefer hanging out on your own or connecting with new people in your free time, there’s tons of different ways that YOU can make a difference for the endangered Southern Resident Orca Whales. Swipe to learn more!

🌧At the Stormwater Project, we strive to protect the Southern Residents by monitoring stormwater outfalls for pollution that can harm their precious habitat. One of the main threats that these endangered orcas face is high levels of pollutants in the waters they call home. By testing outfalls and sharing our data with city stormwater departments, local officials can track down sources of pollution and prevent from further contamination. Head to the link in our bio to join the team today! 🔬

Orca Action Month created almost 20 years ago by Orca Network’s Susan Berta and Howard Garrett. Celebrated annually in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia, this month encourages our communities to advocate for the endangered Southern Resident Orca Whales. Check out to learn more about the awesome events they’re hosting this month! 🗓
