You are a member of GICCA just by the fact that you have chosen to reside or are a property owner on Guemes Island. The Community Stage and Murray Read Pavilion adjacent to Schoolhouse Park are also GICCA properties and are gathering places for outdoor events and activities. GICCA meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month (except December, June, July, and August) at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center Hall. The public is welcome to attend. A virtual option may be offered for those community members unable to attend in person. This page is maintained by Guemes Islander Devon LeBoutillier.

On behalf of the Cayou James families, we offer our deepest gratitude for the generosity, prayers, and love you have shared. Our hearts are full knowing that Rosalee Cayou James touched so many lives with the spirit that guided her. As Father Doug beautifully said at Rosieโ€™s service, โ€œShe did not retire from being herself.โ€ Rosie walked gently on this earth, always giving, always offering her time, her compassion, her knowledge, and her strength. She lived in constant service to her family, friends, and community and was a teacher to so many.

Many have told us that she was often the first to greet themโ€”to come forward with kindness and ask, โ€œWhat is your name? Where is your home?โ€ In those moments, people felt something deeper than a welcome. They felt her spirit reaching out, embracing them, reminding them that they belonged and were seen.

As we continue to honor the sacred transition of Rosie and Julian (Bill), we hold close the love and support you have shared with us. Your presence, your prayers, and your generosity reflect the teachings they carried in their heartsโ€”the teachings of connection, compassion, and the bond between all our spirits.

Hรณy7sxwq'e, tigสทicid, Thank you.

The family requests that following traditional protocol, we refrain from posting photos of Rosie and Julian (Bill) for one year.

No ferry? A chance of rain? No problem!
Our island artists have been working hard to make the May 31st Studio Tour a success and now it's our turn to help them. The lack of a car ferry will make it difficult for folks to attend so it's time to inflate those bike tires, phone a friend, offer rides, accept rides, pull out those walking shoes, or navigate the Skagit Transit On-Demand bus. Let's help each other out and show up in force.
