⚠️ Avalanche Danger is VERY HIGH – Please Read ⚠️

We want to remind everyone that avalanche danger is currently very high in our area.

There was a report of a skier triggering a slide at Showers Lake on Sunday (2/22). Thankfully, he is okay. There has also been a report of another small avalanche crossing the groomed trail heading out of Showers Lake toward Red Lion.

These are serious reminders that conditions are unstable right now.

Please:
• Be aware of current conditions before heading out
• Avoid steep or suspect terrain
• Carry proper avalanche safety equipment (shovel, beacon, probe, avalanche pack)
• Know how to properly use your gear
• Get the proper avalanche training

If you do not have the proper equipment or training, you really should reconsider riding in backcountry areas during these conditions.

Your safety — and the safety of others — depends on it. Ride smart and look out for one another.

We continue to have to same problem, year after year. If you see it, get a license plate, take pictures, report it.

Attention!! The cabin in gold bar basin, (the nut pine lode) was broken into and left a mess. This cabin is a privately owned cabin and not open to the public. By breaking and destroying things, it just gives snowmobilers a bad look and that’s how we loose more things.

We are offering a $500 reward to any information leading to the prosecution of the individuals responsible for this. If you can’t respect people’s property you don’t belong out there.

Here is a link to the finalized trail plan for Anaconda Deer lodge county. Not really snowmobile trails, but are multi-use. Give us all stuff to do when not snowmobiling. Some motorized only, some bicycle only, some walking. This will be a great addition to the community that benefits everyone. It will go in front of the commission next Tuesday Jan 13.

The Document Center is for storage of documents of many different file types. Documents stored in the Document Center can be separated by folders and subfolders.

Trail Update –

Montgomery Trail (FS 8356) is finally open after three days of cutting. Multiple crews came in from both sides, and we were able to get through 3.8 miles of trail.

The other snowmobile trails on the south side, we had several volunteer groups working on as well. We’ll provide updates on those tomorrow, and hopefully they’ll be open soon too.

None of the trails are ready to groom yet, but with more snow, we’re hoping that happens soon. ❄️

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped clear trails—much appreciated!

It is strongly suggested that if you head out now, you carry a handsaw, axe, or chainsaw with you. Multiple times during our trail-clearing trips, we’ve had new downfall occur after we already went through an area.
