Whew! That was some night, wasn't it? We are still reeling from the overwhelming generosity of our community after Thursday's Pint Night at Smelter City Brewing. We were blessed by meeting with several new donors, many new subscribers (including at least one new "sub club" lifetime subscription), at least a couple dozen incredibly thoughtful silent auction and raffle items, and not just one but two, yes, two Mug Clubs auctioned off (more on that in a bit from the auctioneer himself). There are funds still coming in, and we'll be sending out our gratitude to each and every one who helped make the event such a huge success by contributing to the return of independent, local print journalism to the Smelter City.
But before that, we at the Anaconda Weekly Review wish to express our deepest, sincerest gratitude to the Anaconda Community Foundation -- happily our upstairs neighbors at the Community Service Center -- for agreeing to become our Founding Donor by awarding us a grant in the amount of $25,000!
Pictured below are ACF Director Lydia Janosko and members of their Board of Directors presenting the award to our own Board of Directors and Publisher James S. Rosien at our pint night. It's an award that will go a very long way toward helping us with our paper's startup costs.
ACF's mission is to enrich the lives of Anaconda residents by supporting initiatives that foster community well-being. Their mission directly aligns with that of the Anaconda Community Media Company, our 501(c)(3) charitable organization formed in large part to publish the Anaconda Weekly Review so as to promote civic engagement, public understanding, media literacy and access to reliable local information as a public benefit for our community. And we at the Review humbly thank the ACF, their Board of Directors, their Betterment Committee and their donors for so generously contributing to our efforts to ensure that Anaconda will never lose the news again.
