YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
I am posting to share a personal mission: raising funds to purchase a 3D mammography system for Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite, Louisiana.
This cause is deeply personal to me. I lost my oldest sister, Lucia, other family members and several friends to breast cancer, often following late-stage diagnoses. Conversely, my sister Toni Marie and many of my friends are survivors today because their cancer was detected early, through routine screening. Statistics and my own life experience confirm that early screening saves lives.
Currently, a portable mammography unit only visits Amite three times a year. As a not-for-profit hospital, Hood Memorial is dedicated to reducing health disparities in Tangipahoa Hospital Service District No. 2 and is committed to purchasing a permanent, state-of-the-art system, which would provide life-saving screenings five days a week to residents of Tangipahoa and St. Helena Parishes.
We have a unique opportunity to make this a reality. The Anderson Ray Leto Foundation has joined with us and pledged to match donations up to $50,000 for a limited time. Our goal is to meet this challenge by April 30, 2026.
Are you familiar with the Krewe da Cha Chas? Their members are dedicated to supporting breast cancer survivors and honoring those who have passed away. Many of the members are survivors. They have already made a generous donation to this project, and we are so thankful for their support and involvement.
I INVITE YOU TO JOIN THIS EFFORT AND SHARE YOUR STORY OF WHY ACCESSIBLE CANCER SCREENING IS VITAL FOR OUR COMMUNITY. TOGETHER, LET’S HONOR THOSE WE HAVE LOST AND SUPPORT THE FIGHTERS AND SURVIVORS IN OUR LIVES. YOUR DONATION HELPS!
This fundraiser is sponsored by the Amite Rotary Club, ensuring that all proceeds are used solely for this project, through its Amite Rotary Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (Tax ID: 45-3326909). Donations may be mailed to Amite Rotary Foundation, PO Box 721, Amite, LA 70422.
Thank you for your support. Best regards, Regina
