Even though we were a little unaware of August being Clear the Shelters Month until just a week or so ago, apparently our babies had other plans! ❤️

28 cats and kittens found their furever homes this month! 🥹🐾

And 5 of those adoptions happened just this past weekend!

🍂 Pumpkin (formerly Reese) & Cheeto were each chosen by their families and placed on hold until their vetting was complete. These patient parents waited for their babies to be ready, and we couldn't be happier to see them finally heading home! ❤️

🐾 Rollo & Butterscotch were the special pair who found their family together! Their new mama chose them based on their bios in our adoption book at the fair, and we have a feeling these two are going to give her TONS of entertainment! 😂❤️

👑 And then there's Zee.

This very unsure boy had only recently started coming out of his shell when his mama found him online. She immediately fell in love with him and knew he was her boy.

She understands that Zee may take some time to blossom, and she's promised to give him exactly that — patience, love and the time he needs to feel safe and confident.

And the best part? Zee gets to be the king of his very own castle. 👑🏡❤️

28 adoptions in August. 28 lives changed forever.

Every adoption is made possible by our fosters, volunteers, supporters and adopters who open their hearts and homes to these babies.

We may have been late to realizing it was Clear the Shelters Month, but we sure are proud of how our August ended. ❤️🐾

2 more tiny lives lost. 💔

When will this end?!

It is NEVER okay to abandon kittens at a vet’s office, a rescue, an APL, or ANYWHERE.

And please, don’t “kitnap” kittens. If you find a litter of healthy kittens, their best chance at survival is with their mom. Mom provides warmth, nutrition, protection, and care that no human can truly replace. If they are safe where they are, leave them with mom and contact someone for guidance.

The actions of one irresponsible human being become the burden, responsibility, and heartbreak of those of us working tirelessly to break this cycle.

These babies never asked to be born into a world where they could be discarded. They deserved a chance. They deserved someone who cared enough to get them help.

Please keep our foster in your thoughts this week as she and her children endure the heartbreaking loss of 2 of the 3 survivors from Amherst Animal Hospital. They fought so hard, and we are devastated that we couldn't save them all.

And please send every prayer, good thought, and ounce of hope you can for that last tiny baby. 🙏🏻💔

Let this be a reminder: If you find kittens, don’t abandon them—and don’t automatically take them from their mother. Reach out. Ask for help. Find a rescue, shelter, or vet who can help you determine what they need.

They are lives—not problems to be left behind, and not babies to be taken simply because they were found.

Our three newest Tiny Furl Babies from their incredible, dedicated and exhausted foster. ❤️

🐾 My passion for moms and babies doesn’t stop at humans. 🤍

Right now, I’m fostering three tiny, three-week-old kittens who still need a whole lot of help to survive and thrive. Including syringe feedings and middle-of-the-night wake-ups.

And as I’m stumbling out of bed at 2 or 3 a.m. to feed these little ones before getting up and starting a full day, I keep thinking about the incredible people who do this in animal rescue all the time.

The ones who take in the babies who need round-the-clock care. Who sacrifice sleep, rearrange their lives, clean up endless messes, worry about whether everyone is eating enough, and then somehow get up the next morning and do everything else life requires of them. Being a pet parent, even in a foster situation, puts you through so much!

I am also getting a not so needed reminder of what it was like being tired-as-a-mother when my 3 were little! 😴🫩 To the Mama who is also up right now feeding their little babe, I see you! (For about 30 more seconds, I'm going back to sleep!)

Huge kudos to the foster families and rescue workers who do this over and over again. The amount of love, time, patience, and energy you pour into animals who need you is incredible. ❤️

For now, I’ll be over here syringe-feeding my three tiny roommates and apparently expanding my definition of perinatal support. 😂🐱🐱🐱

We hate asking for help. ❤️
We would much rather hold an event, sell something, work a fundraiser, and find a way to make the numbers work ourselves. And we try.

We really do.

But this summer has been tough, and right now we need our community.

The screenshot below is just a glimpse of what rescue looks like behind the scenes. In August alone, these three clinic bills total $1,569—and the bills don't stop there.

We still have 17 kittens waiting to be spayed or neutered before they can move on to their forever homes.
There are vaccines, medications, food, litter and all the other expenses that come with raising healthy little chaos furballs. 🐾

Right now, we're on intake hold while we focus every resource we have on caring for the animals already depending on us.

And we're getting uncomfortably close to the point where we simply can't do this without help.

If you're able to donate—even a few dollars—it adds up. It gets a kitten vaccinated. It helps pay for a spay or neuter. It gets one more little life ready to leave rescue and start the life we've been working so hard to give them.

And if donating isn't possible, please share this post. Sharing costs nothing, and it can put this in front of the person who can help.

We don't expect any one person to save us. We just need a lot of people willing to help us carry a little piece of the load.

We couldn't do this without you. And right now, we need you more than ever. ❤️🐾

Sometimes the happy moments in rescue get overshadowed by the hard ones. 💔

Last weekend, Oh Henry found his furever home, and while we made his adoption post, it unfortunately got lost in the heartbreak of losing Gracie. He deserved more than that, because his adoption story is one of those moments that makes rescue so incredibly worth it. ❤️

Oh Henry found his person at Tractor Supply. Mom and daughter came in BOTH days, and both days, this little girl was completely drawn to him. They left the second day promising they would come to all of our events and love on all the babies.

Dad must have felt it too, because less than 45 minutes after they left, they came back through the door.

Her little voice rang out, “Daddy said I could have him!” 🥹❤️

And every single one of our hearts melted.

So we're giving Oh Henry his moment again — because this boy found his family, and that deserves to be celebrated! ❤️

And while we're celebrating, we have another happy ending to share...

Coal found his furever family too! 🖤

One of our handsome black panthers apparently found his people based solely on his name. His new dad's last name is Cole, so clearly this was meant to be.

And of course, he will rightfully be keeping his name. Please welcome Coal Cole! 🖤🥹
