Mark your calendars: September 5, 2025 at 1900. This year at the Amherst Va County Fair, AFD will be hosting an extrication challenge in lieu of the normal firefighter competition held in the past.

The competition will be limited to 5, 5 firefighter teams. Teams will stabilize a vehicle, remove glass, remove doors, remove roof and extricate patient using equipment provided. This will be a timed event.

Event is sponsored by Atlantic Emergency Solutions, Fire & Safety Equipment Co. Inc. and Amherst Fire Department. Trophies and swag to participants.

Centra One is scheduled to be on hand for demonstration purposes.
