Sigma Chi Iota Social Justice Sorority Sigma Chi Iota was founded to advocate for those who are oppressed by society. Our genuine sisterhood has collegiate and non collegiate chapters

We also serve as a support network for our sisters as well as provide life enriching experiences and memories. A social sorority and network for women who seek and desire support networks and to make a social change. If you are tired of racism, s*xism, homophobia, unfair discrimination, bullying, stigmatization of those physically and/or mentally impaired, inequality and more and want to make a change, this Sorority may be perfect for you! Based off of the Principles of BASICLEE:

B- Bravery (Bravery to stand up and fight against discrimination and to be yourself)

A-Acceptance (Accept people for who they are and who they are not. Learning to respect and love differences among different groups of people)

S- Sisterhood (Sisters for life! Love all and accept all for who they are. As sisters, you develop lifelong friends who want to be a part of your life and help you through your journey. Make close friends who you can walk the paths of life with!)

I-Individuality (The belief of most Greek organizations is that you need to conform in order to fit in. The sorority should be the exact opposite, where people are individuals and can be themselves in any capacity)

C-Community Service (Giving back to the community is important and should be valued. Community service not only helps our society but helps us to grow and feel good about ourselves too)

L-Loyalty (As sisters, people must remain loyal to one another and make sure to be upright. Another stereotype of GLOs is that they consistently say things behind one another’s back. We should be sure to be upfront and solve the problem rather than dividing among one another)

E- Education (Education is important for us to be more aware of ourselves, and how we can help ourselves and one another)

E-Equality (Everyone gets an equal say in what happens. No one is looked over because of their race, their disabilities, their s*x or mental health. Everyone is a human being and deserves to be treated as one.)
