Get involved in the fight for the funding that our schools, colleges and universities deserve. Here are three ways to get involved:

🆘 Join one of the MTA's Fiscal Action Crisis Teams meeting on Monday, April 7: bit.ly/fiscalcrisisteams. The teams working on rural, regional and vocational schools, minimum aid and Chapter 70 inflation are all meeting virtually on Monday evening.

🆘 Attend the FY26 budget hearing before the Joint Committee Ways and Means on Tuesday, April 8 or submit testimony: mobilize.us/massteacher/event/766201/.

🆘 Email your state rep and senator and ask them to support using a reserve of $200M in the supplemental budget from the Fair Share Amendment surplus to maintain the vital work at our public colleges and universities: bit.ly/supportpublichighered.

Horrible!

Last week, ICE agents violently removed farmworker organizer and advocate Alfredo Juarez from his car while he was dropping his partner off at work.

He was likely targeted because of his work fighting for farmworkers’ basic rights, such as overtime pay & protections from extreme heat.

By detaining a prominent union organizer, the Trump administration has sent a message that exercising your legal right to improve your working conditions can make you the target of a government that won’t think twice about putting you in a cage and removing you from the country.

MSP members are sharing their stories at the bargaining table on Friday, Nov. 1st from 9:30am- 11:30am. Would you like to show your support at bargaining? Contact MSP now! Email [email protected].

AND EVERYONE IS INVITED TO JOIN THE **ALL UNION STROLLER PARADE** ON NOV. 1ST AT NOON!! Meet outside the Student Union. Bring your kids, if you’re able, and come in costume!

Why is childcare on the table?

❗️The Center for Early Education and Care (CEEC) operates from 8:15am-4:15pm, which doesn’t align with a typical 8:30am-4:30pm workday at UMass Amherst.

❗️Our CEEC doesn't accept children under 15 months. Infant care is desperately needed for working caregivers!

❗️For a child’s acceptance into the CEEC at 15 months, pregnant parents would need to apply to the wait list during the same week they discover that their families are growing!

❗️Like many reproductive justice issues, the lack of accessible childcare affects ALL OF US. However, this particular challenge disproportionately impacts women and people of color, creating barriers to advancing a career or simply remaining in a job.

Wonderful Yes on 2 event at the Drawing Board Brewing Company in Florence, Massachusetts, tonight with Senator Jo Comerford and hosted by PSUMTA and University Staff Association and Massachusetts Society of Professors - UMass Amherst. It was great to see folks from Massachusetts Community College Council and other higher ed unions and a couple of pk-12 Massachusetts Teachers Association members.

PSU and union allies rally outside Homecoming in Amherst demanding that UMass return to the table and bargain in good faith. First picture is USA bargaining team members standing in solidarity. Bargaining stalled because management wants to limit participation by silent bargaining representatives.
