UMass Amherst Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies Institute for the study of Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory located on the UMass, Amherst campus offering individual or group tours.

The Institute for Holocuast Genoicde and Memory Studies at the University of Massachsetts Amherst is a locus for research and teaching on the Holocaust, as well as on the memory and representation of this and other acts of genocide. The institute's three primary organizing and research rubrics are: History, Memory, and Education. Its principal activities include: teaching and research, public eve

nts and lectures, permanent and temporary exhibitions, collections of research archives, library, multiple media, ( e.g., video and audio testimony, film, art and photography). Regularly sponsored initiatives address several groups of clientele: students and faculty from the University and Five Colleges, as well as from regional middle and high schools; the general public of the Commonwealth; visiting scholars; and cooperating national and international partners.

PROGRAM NEXT THURSDAY: Horst Hoheisel's talk will take place on April 14th, at 4:00 at the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies. In his slide-lecture, "The Arts of Counter-Memory," renowned German artist and memorialist, Horst Hoheisel presents his numerous memorial projects, ranging from the victims of the N**i euthanasia program, to the Jews of Germany, to the desaparacidos of Argentina.
