Iowa Sports Foundation

The Iowa Sports Foundation (ISF) mission is to provide sports, recreation, health and wellness opportunities for Iowans of all abilities.

The ISF is comprised of the Iowa Games, Live Healthy Iowa, Adaptive Sports Iowa and the Iowa Senior Games. The 32-member board of directors is made up of former governors and athletic and corporate leaders from around the state. Corporate sponsorships, donations, grants and entry fees provide the major source of funding for the ISF. The ISF does not rely on any state or federal funding.

For nearly four decades, the Iowa Sports Foundation has been proud to offer Summer Iowa Games events in Ames. During that time, the Iowa Games have experienced considerable success, both in participation and in the quality of competitions hosted. In 2026, the Iowa Games will celebrate their 40th anniversary and, as part of this milestone year, have the opportunity to host select activities within the greater central Iowa area.

The Iowa Games have long valued the relationship with Ames, and that relationship will continue in many core ways. This expansion positions the Iowa Games for future growth and enhanced participant experiences. For example, as youth soccer continues to grow, we look forward to expanding programming through a venue that can accommodate current needs and future demand.

We are excited about the expanded venue options and believe participants will benefit from these changes. We are working to secure the necessary facilities and will share more details with Iowa Games participants in the coming weeks. Regular updates will be posted on social media, with additional information provided via email. Finalized details will be available as registration approaches. In the meantime, participants with questions are encouraged to contact us.

We had a truly great 2025, and we want to extend a huge thank you to all of our athletes, award recipients, sponsors, Hall of Fame members, and staff. We couldn't do it without all of you!
