Iowa Governor's Charity Steer Show

Every year with the Governor's support, this show is sponsored by the Iowa Beef Industry Council and Iowa Cattlemen's Association to benefit the Iowa RMH.

In a joint effort led by Iowa's cattle producers, the Governor and many generous donors work together to provide comfort for families of seriously ill children. Proceeds from the steer auction and show go towards financial support of the three Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa.

And that is a wrap! Our final check presentation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa was this morning. Each house in Iowa has received a third of the total proceeds from the $569,000 raised through this year’s Governor’s Charity Steer Show. We are humbled by how Iowa’s cattle industry has come together to create this lasting impact!

The Iowa Cattlemen's Association and Iowa Beef Council are grateful for all of those who have helped contribute to the success of this year’s event. We especially want to thank Governor Kim Reynolds for her continued dedication to this special event.

We’ll be getting started on next year’s event soon, but until then, consider how you can continue to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa!

Stop #2 - the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland for our next check delivery from this year’s Governor’s Charity Steer Show! So proud to remind everyone of the difference their support makes - the three RMHC in Iowa will split the proceeds from $569,000! What a fun morning doing something that truly matters.

Thanks to our youth exhibitor, Merritt Moss and his family for joining in today’s celebration. Not only did he help present the check, he fielded media interviews and took part in volunteering to help prepare meals for families staying at the house.

It was a fantastic morning! With the help of a few of our Governor’s Charity Steer Show youth exhibitors, the Iowa Cattlemen's Association and the Iowa Beef Council presented the first check to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois. Each of the three houses will split the overall total proceeds to help support the families they serve.

This year, we took the check presentation on the road and will be visiting each house and inviting our youth participants to be a part of these special moments! It is a great way to reengage with our purpose and see firsthand how important the work is that the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa does. While we were here, we kept the giving going and volunteered a little time preparing food for house guests.

It will be a bit before we start fundraising for next year’s Governor’s Charity Steer Show, but the need for food, funds, and volunteers is year round. Visit https://rmhc-eiwi.org/ to see how you can get involved!

And finally, we have our Community Hero Award! This goes to the exhibitor (and team) who goes above and beyond to collect items for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and promote the Governor's Charity Steer Show. Our winner this year did all of that and more. He was also a true advocate for the cattle industry. Teaching followers about his family's cattle operation and what it is like to raise cattle. Great job, Merritt!

Here we go, Cyclones! Our Grand Champion Showman team came out full of Iowa State University spirit. With red glitter hooves, gold glitter down the back, and a pom pom woven into the steer's tail, this team certainly put on a good show and maintained their theme.

Drumroll, please....More than $569,000 was raised through this year's Iowa Governor's Charity Steer Show for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa. Congratulations and thank you to all the sponsors, youth exhibitors, celebrities, and those who donated or bought a steer for helping make this possible.

We also extend a sincere thank you to Governor Kim Reynolds for her dedicated support and continuation of this great event.
