Our Medical Childcare team turned sensory play into a dino-sized adventure! 🦕

Kids had a blast squishing, scooping and “excavating” dinosaurs in pudding – because sometimes the best way to learn is to get a little messy! At ChildServe, play like this isn’t just fun (although it definitely is!) – it helps kids with medical needs explore their senses, build skills, connect with their peers, and just be kids in a safe, supportive environment with nurses and specialists nearby.

Join us this Sunday for the Sensory-Friendly Game at the Ballpark! ⚾️

Join ChildServe, the Autism Society of Iowa, and the Iowa Cubs on Sunday, June 7, for the third-annual Sensory-Friendly Game at the Ball Park! ⚾

The 2026 Sensory-Friendly Game will provide an environment designed for individuals with autism or sensory processing disorders in mind, so families can visit, play and enjoy the game. Special programming and activities are planned with modifications, including the mitigation of sounds and motions as much as possible, designated educational areas, calming rooms, directional signage and trained volunteers throughout the stadium.

The Ames Public Library is again offering a free lunch to kids on weekdays this summer from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. starting on June 8, in the Library's Auditorium. Lunch is free to all youth 18 years and younger; meals for adults accompanying youth are $5.15
