Celebrate Freedom & Financial Literacy this Juneteenth! ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

We are thrilled to invite you to a special Juneteenth 2026 Storytime & Lecture on Saturday, June 27th, at the Ames Public Library.

Weโ€™ll be hosting twin brothers and former Ames residents, Quentin and Quinlan Riser, authors of the incredible new children's book, "Edenโ€™s Money Magic: Learning About Finances." Drawing from their professional backgrounds in finance and human development, Quentin and Quinlan have created a unique story that inspires children and families to become smart financial managers.

Here is what you need to know:
๐Ÿ‘‰ 10:30 AM | Storytime (Storytime Room): Join brothers Quinlan and Quentin for a special visit and book reading perfect for the little ones.
๐Ÿ‘‰ 11:30 AM | Lecture (Library Auditorium): A deeper dive into how financial literacy creates stability, leads to generational impact, and builds stronger communities. Learn how to build wealth intentionally at any age!

๐ŸŽ First 50 lecture attendees will receive a free book

This event is free and open to the public and is proudly supported by Ames Public Library, NAACP Ames Branch, and Northwest Bank.

Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and letโ€™s build a stronger financial legacy together.

The Ames Branch of the NAACP is bringing the community together for a powerful evening of dialogue around the future of education in Ames.

๐Ÿ—“ Thursday, May 28, 2026
๐Ÿ•• 6:00 PM โ€“ 7:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ Ames Public Library โ€“ Danfoss Room
Superintendent Scott Grimes will be sharing his vision for Pre-K and Beyond โ€” a district-wide commitment to nurturing the whole child from their earliest years in preschool through graduation and beyond.

Scott Grimes is the 29th Superintendent of Ames Community School District, a district with over 150 years of history. He previously served 12 years as Superintendent at Dallas Center-Grimes, where he led a 5โ€“12 Vision connecting schools with local businesses and expanding student opportunities. Before that, he played a key role at Perry Community School District, helping the school community rebuild and heal following a traumatic school shooting. He holds an Ed.S. in Superintendent Administration from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Iowa State University. His PK & Beyond vision reflects a belief that every student, from their very first day of preschool through high school graduation, deserves a strong, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

This is your opportunity to hear directly from district leadership and ask the questions that matter most for your children and community. Come ready to listen, engage, and be heard.
