Our confirmation class for 2026-2027 was introduced to the congregation today along with parents and mentors. The students also received a new Bible to begin their confirmation journey with. We are looking forward to a fantastic year with this great group!

✝️ Join us for worship this weekend!

🕯 Saturday, August 29 at 5:30pm in the chapel.

🌅 Sunday, August 30 at 10:00am in the sanctuary and on livestream.

📖 Rev. Amanda Gordon will lead us and share her message titled “Resistance and Acceptance.”

We will introduce our confirmation students and mentors and gift our confirmation students their bibles during the Sunday service.

We will also welcome a new member into the congregation on Sunday!

After Sunday worship service, all are invited to help make casseroles for Romero House in fellowship hall.

We had a wonderful first retreat weekend at Wesley Woods UM Camp for our Connectional Confirmation group! We gathered with youth from State Center and Logan UMCs to kick off the Confirmation year. We had time to learn and time to have fun including a late night swim in the pool, horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, and rock wall along with lots of fun games too!

Connectional Confirmation joins youth from across the Iowa Conference of The United Methodist Church who are all around the same age and same stage of their lives in learning about God and their faith journey. The youth meet online once per month and three times throughout the year for a weekend retreat at Wesley Woods. Each congregation can then include their own specific requirements for the youth. At Ames we include faith visits, community volunteer hours, church service hours, and connecting with mentors. We look forward to an amazing year!

We need 2-3 more volunteers who can be on the Ames First UMC Volunteer Team to serve/clean-up for Food at First THIS THURSDAY, August 27, 2026 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Please comment below if we can add your name to the sign-up sheet at church! (A few pics from the past couple of years!)

We will have a special Back to School Blessing at both services.

🎵 Ginny LaVelle and Ellen Johnsen will play a hand bell duet for our anthem on Sunday.

📒 ✏️ After both worship services, there will be a time to put together school kits for Midwest Mission.

Don’t miss out on the last United Women in Faith bake sale of the summer! Load up for that first week back to school! Those cookies and scotcheroos will be a great surprise in the lunch boxes!
