Tonight, Monday October 9, at 7PM the Ames Climate Action Team is gathering at the Ames Public Library (Farwell Brown auditorium), to assess where we are and where we are going, now that Ames has adopted a Climate Action Plan. We welcome anyone who is interested in learning more about this issue, or who is looking for a way to be effective in reducing the impact of climate change.

The City of Ames has posted its nearly-finished Climate Action Plan. There are two recent posts on our blog, at https://www.amesclimateaction.org/blog - one on implementation of the CAP and one on how the CAP relates to the city budget. Both will be helpful if you are planning to provide feedback to the City on this plan.

Also new: A growing list of resources for disposing of things you no longer want, including options for recycling or donating a variety of items. It is clear that how Ames manages its waste will play a big role in determining both the cost and the success of the CAP, and here is one place where each of us can help.

SPECIAL ACAT EVENT:
On Monday, August 15, at 7PM, The Ames Climate Action Team will be holding a public session with a special guest:

Missy Stults, PhD, Director of the Office of Sustainability and Innovation for the City of Ann Arbor will be joining us to talk about Ann Arbor’s experience implementing its climate action plan.

Ann Arbor adopted their plan in April 2020, so they are a bit over two years ahead of Ames. The topic will focus on what they have learned and accomplished in two years of implementation of their climate action plan, and how their insights, methods and materials may help Ames implement our Climate Action Plan.

Visit the webpage below to see how you can receive access to the Zoom link and/or recording, and we hope to see you there!
